Nanami Sakuraba, Sara Takatsuki, and co. all graduate from the group bump.y

Nanami Sakuraba (21) and all the other members of girls unit bump.y are scheduled to "graduate" from the group at the end of June to all focus on their acting career.

The official website reads: "Thank you all for supporting bump.y since its inception in 2009. Please keep on cheering for and supporting the members so that all of them will become splendid actresses and flourish in their respective careers.".

bump.y was formed in October 2009 and consists of Sakuraba, Mary Matsuyama (21), Mio Miyatake (17), Matsuri Miyatake (14), and Sara Takatsuki (16). The unit hails from Sweet Power, agency of talents such as Maki Horikita and Meisa Kuroki. They debuted in August of 2010 with the single "voice", and have released a total of 7 singles and 3 albums.

miwa to play the heroine in the movie "Maestro!"

It was revealed that miwa will be starring in the movie Maestro! which is slated for a 2015 release.

miwa herself announced this at the miwa spring concert 2014: Shibuya Monogatari ~Kan~ held at the Kokuritsu Yoyogi Kyogijō's 1st gymnasium. After performing her new song "Let me go" during the encore, she stopped and said: "There's something that I have to tell everyone", and surprised everyone in attendance after announcing that she will be in a movie. She continues, "I'll be balancing my musical activities and the filming of the movie. I have no experience at all in acting and I feel like I'll have my hands full with it, but I'm gonna give it my all!". 

Maestro! is a live action adaptation of Akira Saso's manga Maestro, where former members of an orchestra that had to disband due to their sponsor going bankrupt gather once again under a mysterious conductor and aim to perform once more at a recital. The young concert master will be played by Tori Matsuzaka, Toshiyuki Nishida will play the part of the conductor, and miwa will play the role of the heroine who is a flute player.

EXILE's TAKAHIRO to make his drama debut with Emi Takei in Senryokugai Sosakan

EXILE's vocalist TAKAHIRO (28) will be making his acting debut as an 'ikemen detective' in the drama Senryokugai Sosakan (NTV, Saturdays 9 pm) which will start airing in January. He will be forming a partnership with the lead Emi Takei (19) as they take on difficult cases.

This drama will be a comedy based on the mystery novel of the same name. TAKAHIRO will be playing the role of Kyosuke Shitara, ace of the police department's criminal investigation division, a detective who has a bright future ahead of him and has a very strong sense of justice. He will however be working alongside "an inspector who can't be called an asset" (Takei), which will only worsen his standing.

The character that he will be playing is a karate expert and martial artist. TAKAHIRO himself is a black belter in karate and will put his knowledge and skills to good use for this role.

This year is TAKAHIRO's 8th year in EXILE, and last June, he also made his solo singing debut. He will be trying his hand at acting as he aims to expand his scope of activities. The production staff also comments: "We hope that TAKAHIRO-san can express himself and exhibit the sensibilities that he has been cultivating all this time".

TAKAHIRO has been concentrating on dialogue recitation as well as acting lessons in preparation for the start of their filming early next month. He has also been doing kickboxing to train his body for the role.

"There remains some unknown aspects about myself, but I want to tackle this like mad in order to express a new side of me." He also commented on his expectations of his comedy skits together with Takei: "I hope I can bring out new expressions and appeal in Takei-san".

Atsuko Maeda's NHK period drama "Asakiyumemishi" struggling to get good ratings

NHK's period drama Asakiyumemishi ~ Yaoya Oshichi Ibun (NHK/Thursday 8:00) starring Atsuko Maeda got 4.0% for its third episode last October 3. Episode 1 got 5.8%, while the second got 5.0%.
NHK is not very particular when it comes to ratings, but despite the enthusiasm showed by the staff members at first, they are apparently disappointed at the outcome, as comments like, "We didn't imagine that Atsuko Maeda couldn't bring in the ratings...", "This is what we get for using her just because of the label 'former AKB center'", "4.0% would be considered for cancellation if this was on commercial TV", were heard within the station.

Maeda also received some positive comments about her acting such as having good expressions and that she's showing some improvement every episode. However, there are also some reviews saying that she acts like a vegetable and that her lines are hard to pick up. Some people have even gone to the extent of saying that "We should've just cast Yuko Oshima instead".
