ASKA denies charges: "I obtained it from a gang member and thought that it was Annaca, not drugs."
There has been a new turn of events in the arrest of ASKA (of CHAGE & ASKA) and his female friend as ASKA has testified that he thought the substance was "Annaca".
According to the police, ASKA and Kasumi Tochinai have been answering all questions and have been cooperating with their investigation, but have continuously denied all allegations.
According to an investigator, ASKA has insisted that "he obtained it from a member of an organized gang and thought that it was Annaca, not drugs". Annaca, or "caffeine and sodium benzoate", is a medicine used as a stimulant to counter drowsiness and fatigue.
It has also been discovered that ASKA and Tochinai got to know each other at a party that was organized by Tochinai's group company. ASKA frequently met with Tochinai during weekends, as the police are currently investigating the history of their drug use.

Ryo Aska of popular duo CHAGE & ASKA was caught on film as he was using drugs and was blackmailed by the Yamaguchi-gumi yakuza group, Weekly Bunshun can reveal.
According to ASKA and a close showbiz representative, ASKA used to live for 4 years in Hokkaido since his Jr. High days. That was where he got to know a member of the yakuza group, and eventually became his source for drugs. But there seems to have been some trouble with his recent transactions, leading to the yakuza group to use filmed evidence of ASKA using drugs through a glass pipe in order to threaten him.
Bunshun had the chance to interview ASKA in front of his house.
-----Are you a drug addict?
"No, no, not at all. Not at all. Haha."
-----We heard that you're being threatened by the Yamaguchi-gumi for some drug-related matters.
"(short silence)..... Yeah, yeah, about that, they said, 'Lend us money'. Then I said, 'I don't want to'. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and that's why we got into an argument."
CHAGE & ASKA were supposed to have a live performance for the first time in 6 years this August, but was postponed by their agency due to suspicions of transient cerebral ischemia on ASKA. (Related post HERE) Apparently, ASKA was still being threatened by the yakuza at that point.
Will ASKA be able to make his return? All eyes will be on him, including the actions that the investigative teams will take.

We regret to inform you that CHAGE and ASKA’s [Special Live 2013, “On
Your Mark”], performance scheduled for August 28, 29 and 31 at the First
Gymnasium of Yoyogi National Gymnasium will be postponed for the
following reason:
For some weeks, ASKA had been complaining of ill health and has received
detailed examination by physicians. As a result, transient cerebral
ischemia has been suspected and although the symptoms are not critical,
the physicians have diagnosed that the symptoms require further
follow-up and treatment and rest is necessary. Although ASKA has
expressed his strong wish to appear on stage in August, the related
parties have deliberated this matter and have come to the conclusion to
postpone the special live this time.
CHAGE and ASKA wishes to express their deepest regret to the fans that
have been waiting patiently for the first live stage to take place in
six years and also of the concern this news will bring to their fans.
ASKA is now concentrating on receiving treatment in order to realize a
