Hirokazu Koreeda's Soshite Chichi Ni Naru (Like Father, Like Son) had its premier screening event on the 28th in Shinjuku, where it was revealed that Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks has picked this movie up for a Hollywood remake.
A picture of Koreeda shaking hands with Spielberg was shown on the screen, as he was patched via telephone after just signing the official contract with Dreamworks. Spielberg told him, "I was deeply moved by this powerful human drama when I first saw it at the Cannes Film Festival".
Masaharu Fukuyama, who played the role of the protagonist in the film, comments: "This is truly an honor. I wonder how they will remake this film". Even his co-star Lily Franky commented: "I wonder who will be playing my role".
News also came in that Soshite Chichi Ni Naru just received the audience award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, which was held on the same day. This movie will be shown in 230 countries worldwide.
