Bakuman, the story of two young boys who dreamed of becoming mangakas and succeeded in doing so, will be making its way to the silver screen in 2015, with Takeru Sato and Ryunosuke Kamiki playing the parts of the two protagonists. Hitoshi Ohne of Moteki fame will be calling the shots.

Bakuman was created by the duo Tsugumi Ohba (writer) and Takeshi Obata (illustrator), the same pair who spawned the hit DEATH NOTE. Bakuman was published in Shuukan Shonen Jump from 2008~2012. Tha manga was a huge hit, having 20 volumes, and sold over 15 million copies. The anime version also lasted for 3 seasons from 2010~2013. Moritaka Mashiro (Saiko), a highschool boy who's a very talented illustrator, was persuaded by the genius Akito Takagi (Shuujin) of the same class, an aspiring manga writer, to form a pair and publish their own manga series. The manga tells the story of this duo as they eventually achieved their dream of running a manga on Shonen Jump and the struggles that come along with it. Sato will be playing the role of Moritaka, while Kamiki will be playing Akito.

Kamiki comments: "I really love the manga and read it so much that I worn out the comic books so I'm thrilled about this". Sato comments: "I will do everything to the best of my ability to convey the history, the reality, and the wonders of Japanese manga and animation to the rest of the world". Director Ohne comments: "I wanted Sato-kun and Kamiki-kun to play the roles, so this is perfect! I myself had to give up my dream of becoming a mangaka when I was in grade school, so I will pass on this dream to Moritaka and Akito, and make it happen in this movie!!"

Actress Rena Nounen has been cast to play the lead in the movie adaptation of the popular manga Kuragehime (scheduled for a December 2014 release). She plays the role of an otaku who loves jellyfish. Starring alongside her are Masaki Suda, playing the role of a good-looking young man whose hobby is cross-dressing, and Hiroki Hasegawa, who plays the role of the virgin ikemen elite who has a fear of women. Nounen comments on the upcoming otaku role and says: "I'm currently thinking hard how I should be playing this role in order to make the viewers enjoy the movie".

The manga of the same name started publication in 2008 and has circulated over 2.7M copies to date (Vol. 1~13). The manga won 3rd place in the 2011 "Kono manga wa sugoi!" female division awards and was also adapted into anime in 2010 (Fuji).

The story revolves around a group of otaku women who call themselves the "Amars"--- terrified of men, who live in an apartment called Amamizukan, where men are off limits. When the main character gets in trouble with a tropical fish shop one day, she is suddenly saved by a fashionable girl. This fashionable girl would start going to the apartment, but it turns out that this girl is actually a cross-dressed boy, as the story starts focusing on the development of their peculiar friendship.

The other wotas residing in the apartment will be played by Chizuru Ikewaki (Train-wota), Rina Ohta (Romance of the 3 Kingdoms-wota), Tomoe Shinohara (Kare-sen; or wota of mature, old men) and Azusa Babazono (Japanese clothes-wota).

Taisuke Kawamura (Himitsu no Akko-chan, Nodame Cantabile the Final Score Part 2) will be calling the shots, as filming is scheduled to begin in May.

So who should be cast in the live action adaptation of Shingeki no Kyojin?

Following the announcement of the live action adaptation of Shingeki no Kyojin, the Internet was abuzz as everyone had their opinions as to who they wanted to see portray which character.

For Eren Yeager, some people named Tori Matsuzaka, Takeru Sato, and his seiyuu from the anime series Yuki Kaji. For Mikasa Ackerman, some have been voicing out Kiko Mizuhara and Rina Ohta, while others are calling for Ayame Gouriki. Machiyama, one of the scriptwriters, was recommending Ai Hashimoto for the role on Twitter (which has been deleted).

The voice to use a foreign cast apart from Mikasa, who is the last known living Asian, is also pretty strong as people have been saying, "Can you really make Japanese people play the parts of the commanders, the soldiers, and Jean!?", and "Make foreigners play the part but dub their voices over with the anime seiyuus!"

There are also a lot of people predicting that some talents from Johnny's or AKB will be used as well.

The anime which started airing in April of 2013 has created a huge sensation, even leading to Linked Horizon, who provided the main theme song, joining the lineup of this year's Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Fans of the series have been steadily increasing, as more people are following this news closely than it was first announced two years ago.

Why can't Japan's movie industry stop making live adaptations of anime and manga even if they know it's too forced?

真面目にやる気がないのか真面目にやってああなのか邦画を全否定するつもりはないが
ハリウッド映画の真似だけしても資質の違う監督起用して結局いつも失敗してるし逆に気の毒
Is it just that they're lazy? Or are those the results of their serious efforts?

I have no intention of denying the existence of Japanese movies whatsoever, but no matter how hard they try to imitate Hollywood, they still have to make do with directors of a different quality, and everything just ends in failure. I'm actually feeling sorry for the industry.
