hitomi collaborates with MAX for her new song "Barayume"

1: 禿の月φ ★ 2014/03/18
hitomi (38), who is celebrating her 20th year in the industry, has collaborated with dance/vocal group MAX for the video of her new song "Barayume". This was all made possible thanks to the suggestion of producer Osamu Suzuki (41). hitomi made her debut in 1995 when she was 19 with "CANDY GIRL", and this new song is supposed to be the answer to that debut single. hitomi was also the one who composed the lyrics to "Barayume".

Osamu Suzuki's concept of the video is "to educate these herbivorous men on how cool women around their 40s can be", which led to hitomi joining forces with MAX to form a girl band in the MV. MAX members LINA (37) man the drums, NANA (37) is on the keyboard, while MINA (36) is on the percussion. There are also scenes in the video where the women are eating sukiyaki, implying that they are "carnivores".

hitomi comments: "I belong to the same generation as MAX. I'm happy that I have been able to collaborate with them in my 30s.". LINA comments: "We debuted at the same time, and we're from the same generation so the atmosphere has been good, and we're very much in sync with one another".

The media reported that Namie Amuro was playing piano "for the first time" which drew comments from different sectors.

Talent Ryo Fukawa, known as one of the best pianists in showbiz shared his thoughts on her latest music video for "Let me let you go" on his radio program Rocketman Show (J-Wave).

"Her finger forms are like those of a beginner."
"This kind of sound will not come out with that kind of playing,"

Pointing out that she was just pretending to play the piano.

"(If you say that you're singing to your own accompaniment) The sound that's supposed to be coming out of you should really be your own."
"I thought with this that Amuro-san isn't an artist, but a performer. An artist will not do that."
"I suppose Amuro-chan also has fans who have been playing the piano all their lives. Those fans are probably feeling sad too."
"
(To Avex) Are they looking down on the music industry?"

Some net comments:
"If you just think that it's an act for the video, then just looking like you're playing it is alright."
"I'm disappointed in you Amuro-chan."
"So she's just an idol singer after all."

Ryo Fukawa was also popular for giving his opinion on Fuji TV who were giving importance to Hallyu, and gained the sympathy of many people.
