Keiko Kitagawa to be turned into the scapegoat if KimuTaku's HERO flops? (TouSpo)

1: 声なき声に力を ★@\(^o^)/:2014/06/22(日) 13:05:38.32 ID:???0.net
Actress Keiko Kitagawa (27) will be appearing as the heroine in Fuji TV's new Monday-9 drama HERO which will start on July 14.

Takako Matsu previously played the role of the leading lady in HERO, where Takuya Kimura (41) plays an unorthodox prosecutor, in both the 2001 series and the 2007 movie, but passes on the title to Kitagawa this time around.

"Kimura and Kitagawa have already been together in a Monday-9 drama 4 years ago, in Tsuki no Koibito, so they're already familiar with each other. Kitagawa said that she didn't watch too much TV 13 years ago because she was busy with her high school entrance exam studies, but watched HERO religiously. She's actually happy to be part of this production." - (Fuji TV staff)

But there are also some concerns about this, as her previous project Akumu-chan The Mu-vie was a huge flop.
"One of the biggest reasons for this is that it got crushed by the mega hit Frozen. Despite all the efforts they put into promoting the movie by casting Momoioro Clover and making Keiko Kitagawa join them in a time-exclusive unit "Kimo-Kuro Z", the movie still didn't do too well. Though you still cannot deny that Frozen had a hand in the results, Kitagawa has now been branded as 'an actress who cannot make people come see her at the movie house'." - (movie industry insider)

Kitagawa has already emerged into a star from her generation of young actresses, and is said that she potentially has 8.3% of ratings with her. But she was at 10.5% a year ago, so there's also this feeling that she's already past her prime.

"Actually, other TV networks and competing agencies are kinda hoping that Kitagawa brings with her that 'bad luck' of her flopped movie when she does HERO." - (showbiz production representative)

And it is also said that this drama with KimuTaku will have bearing on Kitagawa's future.

"Even Kimutaku, Mr. Ratings himself, hasn't been able to get the numbers recently. His drama Ando Lloyd on TBS last year averaged 12.78%. This is a remake of a mega hit drama, so the passing mark will be about 18%."

And if this drama flops, there's the danger that Kitagawa will be turned into the scapegoat.

"They say that this is the reason why Takako Matsu turned down the role, but it's not a rarity where they blame the actress when KimuTaku and other Johnny's talents dramas have bad ratings. When this doesn't do well, we can already see how people will start saying 'If only Matsu played the role instead...'. Kitagawa's actually been placed in a pretty tight spot."

Will they be able to produce a hit that has the ability to do away with all these doubts and concerns? People will now switch focus to Kitagawa's acting, as well as the drama's ratings.

Machiko Ono to star in the next Monday-9 drama!? (Cyzo)

1: れいおφ ★ 2014/02/19 17:17:52
There had been no news about Fuji TV's April Monday-9 drama for quite a while, but there's now finally some inside information available. According to some, it was going to be the 2nd season of Takuya Kimura's HERO, while some said that a woman will be playing the lead. The latter seems to be the likely case.

According to a source from an advertising firm: "As Fuji's new president Chihiro Kameyama's reign officially kicks in, they promised that they will be casting no one but megastars of 'homerun caliber' as the lead of their Monday-9 dramas."

"Aside from Kimura's HERO, Shun Oguri's Rich Man, Poor Woman Season 2 was also considered. However, HERO has been moved to July due to Kimura's schedule, and Rich Man wasn't possible since Satomi Ishihara had been cast in this season's Shitsuren Chocolatier."

As they went back to the drawing board, they came up with a list of potential stars for the time slot which included Arashi's Satoshi Ohno and Eri Fukatsu, among others. The actress who had the (仮) mark (meaning 'tentative') removed next to her name is apparently Machiko Ono.

"They're not going for a sequel but an original story. Ono's recent work with Fuji includes the recently concluded Saikou no Rikon SP. This has a relatively good reputation within the industry, but the ratings weren't exceptionally high. Some staff were expressing their disappointment of not having someone of KimuTaku's caliber parade their Monday-9 brand at the beginning of the new fiscal year (Japan's fiscal year is from April 1 ~ March 31 of the following year), and that Ono is not 'Monday-9 material'." - (same source as above)

Ono may not have the name value, but that is also why good things can be expected of her. "Her main field has always been in movies, and she's been winning a lot of awards, like the Élan d'or for her role in the 2012 morning drama Carnation on NHK. Ono has had an illicit romance scandal before with Hosshan, but not flinching despite  such a damaging scandal is also proof that she's got what it takes. Here's to hoping that she can produce an out of the park, come-from behind homerun for Fuji." - (same source)

Jun Matsumoto cast for upcoming Monday-9 drama "Shitsuren Chocolatier"

1: かばほ~るφ ★ 2013/11/04(月) 10:42:34.57 ID:???0
Arashi's Jun Matsumoto (30) will be starring in Fuji TV's new drama Shitsuren Chocolatier (Monday-9) which will be starting in January. It will be 2 years since Jun Matsumoto last starred in a serial drama, the most recent being Lucky Seven from last year which was also on Fuji's Monday-9 slot from January to March.

This tells the love story of Sota Koyurugi, a chocolatier, and is based on the manga of the same title written by Ms. Setona Mizushiro. Sota goes to France for his training as he tries to make the heroine who is not interested in chocolates take notice of him. He comes back from his training as an "ikemen chocolatier" and tries too woo the heroine once more.

One thing to look forward to is how Matsumoto will portray the sweet, innocent and loyal feelings his character holds towards the heroine. Matsumoto comments, "I'm truly excited about playing a chocolatier for the first time. Chocolate making is a very delicate job as the amount of ingredients, temperature, and time are all very important. I want to prepare well for this role. I hope to turn this time slot into a "sweet and fun" hour and make the viewers want to root for Sota's love to succeed, while also enjoying the chocolates that will appear in every episode".

Shota Matsuda & Emi Takei in the Monday-9 drama "Umi no Ue no Shinryoujo"

1: 禿の月φ ★ 2013/09/04(水) 05:18:48.43 ID:???P
Shota Matsuda will be starring in Fuji TV's new Monday nights at 9 drama which will start in October, Umi no Ue no Shinryoujo (Clinic above the sea) as a playboy doctor on a medical ship. He will be playing a comedic role, Kota Sezaki, an excellent doctor who falls in love with various patients as he visits the various islands around the Seto Inland Sea, yet gets turned down all the time.

Emi Takei will be playing the role of a rough and spirited nurse who will be his partner at work. This will be her first time as a heroine on the Monday night at 9 slot.

This drama draws inspiration from the actual medical ship, the "Saiseimaru" that goes around the Seto Inland Sea. The drama will be close-ended per episode as Sezaki's object of  affection will change with each episode.

Matsuda comments: "I will be playing the role of a funny doctor so I'm really excited. I hope to establish a close friendship with the cast and the staff as we shoot on these isolated islands."
Takei comments: "It's a character that I have never played before so I'm really excited. I'm looking forward to seeing how my character will develop along with Matsuda-san's Kota as the story progresses."
