Actress Kasumi Arimura, who has had countless offers to appear in movies and dramas, has also seen an increase in her TV commercial exposure.
"She might even surpass Emi Takei and Aya Ueto as the new queen of commercials" -- this has become a common phrase within the industry.

Arimura also showed a very bright disposition towards the staff during the shoot of her latest commercial. And at this rate, she might surpass Rena Nounen and Ai Hashimoto's popularity.

1: :禿の月φ ★:2014/02/24(月) 06:04:04.37 ID:???P
All-girl 4-piece band SCANDAL's vocalist HARUNA (25) just made her stage play debut. She is currently in the play Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu Dai 4-shou kouhen Gekitotsu (runs until March 2). She ventured into the world of acting with the aspirations of improving her way of expressing herself. She also mentioned that she saw the first showing of this stage play series 11 years ago and has been a fan ever since.

She plays the role of a boy who attends the Ginga Teikoku Younen Gakko, and she says: "I'm playing the role of the opposite sex for my very first stage play, so it was trial and error for me at the beginning of our rehearsals. I have been able to experience a different kind of tension and nervousness on stage here compared to when I have concerts with the band, but I'm enjoying this experience.".

Satoshi Tsumabuki, Kazuya Kamenashi, and Yusuke Kamiji to star in the movie Vancouver no Asahi

1: かばほ~るφ ★ 2014/02/20 07:44:53
Actor Satoshi Tsumabuki (33) will be starring in the movie based on the "legendary baseball team". Vancouver no Asahi (director Yuya Ishii), slated for a December release, is about the next generation of Japanese immigrants in Canada who fought against racism and poverty through baseball in order to inspire and give strength to their fellow immigrants. Joining Tsumabuki are other baseball enthusiasts in the industry such as KAT-TUN's Kazuya Kamenashi (27) and Yusuke Kamiji (34).

The story is based on the actual Japanese-Canadian baseball team "Vancouver Asahi" which existed before the war. They defeated Canadian teams one after another and became a glimmer of hope for the Japanese settlement, and eventually won the favor of the white society.

Tsumabuki plays the role of a Japanese nisei (2nd generation Japanese-Canadian) named Reggie Kasahara, the shortstop of the team who works in a lumbermill. This movie will not be a mere baseball movie but will mostly focus on the drama aspects of the story. The producers' reason for casting Tsumabuki was that they "wanted an actor whom people feel a sense of closeness to, and can easily empathize with". He's the only player in team Asahi who has never played baseball, but he trained hard for the role as the staff said "He was good enough to perform a sidethrow during his first training session."

The rest of the team is made up of talents who have been involved with baseball in one way or another. Former little-league player Kamenashi will be playing the role of the ace pitcher Roy Einishi, while Kamiji who used to be the catcher of the New York Mets' pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka in high school will be portraying Tom Miyake, the team's catcher. 2nd baseman Kei Kitamoto will be played by Ryo Katsuji (27) and 3rd baseman Frank Nojima by Sousuke Ikematsu, both experienced in baseball as well.

Machiko Ono to star in the next Monday-9 drama!? (Cyzo)

1: れいおφ ★ 2014/02/19 17:17:52
There had been no news about Fuji TV's April Monday-9 drama for quite a while, but there's now finally some inside information available. According to some, it was going to be the 2nd season of Takuya Kimura's HERO, while some said that a woman will be playing the lead. The latter seems to be the likely case.

According to a source from an advertising firm: "As Fuji's new president Chihiro Kameyama's reign officially kicks in, they promised that they will be casting no one but megastars of 'homerun caliber' as the lead of their Monday-9 dramas."

"Aside from Kimura's HERO, Shun Oguri's Rich Man, Poor Woman Season 2 was also considered. However, HERO has been moved to July due to Kimura's schedule, and Rich Man wasn't possible since Satomi Ishihara had been cast in this season's Shitsuren Chocolatier."

As they went back to the drawing board, they came up with a list of potential stars for the time slot which included Arashi's Satoshi Ohno and Eri Fukatsu, among others. The actress who had the (仮) mark (meaning 'tentative') removed next to her name is apparently Machiko Ono.

"They're not going for a sequel but an original story. Ono's recent work with Fuji includes the recently concluded Saikou no Rikon SP. This has a relatively good reputation within the industry, but the ratings weren't exceptionally high. Some staff were expressing their disappointment of not having someone of KimuTaku's caliber parade their Monday-9 brand at the beginning of the new fiscal year (Japan's fiscal year is from April 1 ~ March 31 of the following year), and that Ono is not 'Monday-9 material'." - (same source as above)

Ono may not have the name value, but that is also why good things can be expected of her. "Her main field has always been in movies, and she's been winning a lot of awards, like the Élan d'or for her role in the 2012 morning drama Carnation on NHK. Ono has had an illicit romance scandal before with Hosshan, but not flinching despite  such a damaging scandal is also proof that she's got what it takes. Here's to hoping that she can produce an out of the park, come-from behind homerun for Fuji." - (same source)

Alisa Mizuki to play the lead in a drama for the 23rd consecutive year

1: 禿の月φ ★ 2013/12/03(火) 05:22:28.26 ID:???P
Actress Alisa Mizuki (36) will be portraying a passionate and foolish teacher who was formerly in the "night entertainment" business in the drama titled Yoru no Sensei (TBS, Friday-10, from Jan. 17).

Mizuki will be playing the role of Sakura Yano, a former mama-san at a snack bar. She's passionate, but is also cheerful, mischievous, and slightly stupid. She may be speaking seriously at one point, but will suddenly insert a joke; her character will generally be comical. She will be teaching at a high school, handling a special night class with a wide range of students from the teens to even 80-year-olds. The story will mainly be about leading these dropouts to start fresh and make a come-from-behind win. Yano's policy is to: "Never let go of a hand that I have grabbed". Mizuki comments: "I want to create this image of a sensei who will be able to face the students head-on, on level ground".

The production staff comments: "We hope to deliver a message to people who have dropped out from society that 'you are all wonderful people who have valuable lives' without making it sound too lecture-y".

Other cast members include Misako Renbutsu (22), Kei Tanaka (28), and Aya Omasa (22).

This will be Mizuki's 23rd consecutive year playing the lead in a drama. She comments: "Maybe it's because I've been able to do a wider variety of roles now that I'm in my 30s".

Ryunosuke Kamiki's Sojiro Seta look for the Rurouni Kenshin sequel revealed

1: ダイビングヘッドバット(新疆ウイグル自治区) 2013/11/29(金) 09:04:14.30 ID:wgrgWQQt0
Sojiro Seta is Makoto Shishio's underling, and his natural talent with the sword rivals that of Kenshin. Ryunosuke Kamiki is said to have held special feelings towards the role of Sojiro -- even before the decision of making a sequel was finalized. In order to build his character, Kamiki dyed his hair blue for the first time in his entire life.

Masami Nagasawa's movie "Kiyoku Yawaku" struggling at the box office

1: かばほ~るφ ★ 2013/11/24(日) 12:18:22.59 ID:???0
Masami Nagasawa (26)'s movie Kiyoku Yawaku hasn't been doing well. This movie marks her return to doing serious love stories, but could this mean that she made a mistake in returning to the path that she once traversed?

This movie is a love story about a man and a woman in their attempt to recover from the loss of a childhood friend. The story is based on a best-selling shoujo manga and was even selected by special invitation for the Tokyo International Movie Awards. There was a lot of hype surrounding the movie prior to its release, but once it hit the silver screen, it only grossed \86 million on its first 2 days.

"It might eventually gross about \400 million in the box office. The other romance movie which was shown on the same period, Juri Ueno's Hidamari no Kanojo, has already surpassed 1.6 billion. Similarly, this is based on a best-selling novel, and has become a hit, leaving Nagasawa's movie behind." - (sports paper journalist)

Why has the movie flopped? There are also a lot of people voicing out that they do not want to see Nagasawa in a pure love story.

Masami Nagasawa's movie in 2004 Sekai no chuushin de ai wo sakebu was a major hit, amassing a total of \8.5 billion in the box office. Nagasawa appeared in numerous dramas and movies afterwards, while still carrying that clean image that she had in SekaChu. However, she has not been blessed with a major hit since.

The movie that gave her a totally different image was Moteki (2011). She went all out in this movie, as she had a deep kiss as well as a sexy scene. This path was a success for her, as she has even commanded some attention with her leg exposures in this season's Toshi Densetsu no onna 2, however...

NHK to hold auditions for a "foreigner heroine" for next year's autumn morning drama "Massan"

1: 三毛猫φ ★ 2013/11/18(月) 14:27:00.67 ID:???0
NHK has announced some details concerning their morning drama for the autumn-winter season next year. The title will be Massan.

It will be based on the lives of Masataka Taketsuru and his wife Rita Cowan. Taketsuru supported Sapporo Olympic's "Hinomaru Air Group", and founded Japan's whiskey industry. The drama will revolve around this non-Japanese heroine who endures the hardships of life with her husband, as they express the "beautiful, never-say-die spirit of the Japanese people".

Similar to Amachan which paved the way for Rena Nounen, this drama will be holding auditions for the heroine beginning January of next year, and will finalize their choice around February to March. The screenplay will be written by Daisuke Habara, winner of the exceptional screenplay award at the Japanese Academy Awards for the movie Pacchigi!, and the best screenplay award from the same award-giving body for the movie Hula Girl.

Ayame Gouriki to star in a late night drama with Hiroshi Tamaki in January "Watashi no kirai na tantei"

1: かばほ~るφ ★ 2013/11/08(金) 10:22:14.25 ID:???0
Ayame Gouriki (21) and Hiroshi Tamaki (33) will be starring together for the first time in TV Asahi's late night drama Watashi no kirai na tantei* which will start in January (Friday nights, 11:15).

*(The private detective whom I hate)

The original story comes from Tokuya Higashigawa, the same writer who wrote Nazotoki wa dinner no ato de. This story is a part of his Ikagawa-shi series. The screenplay is written by Yuichi Fukuda, known for his unique style in Kodomo Keisatsu.

The story takes place in Ikagawa-shi, a fictional town, as Gouriki will play a college student who loves mysteries, while Tamaki will play an eccentric detective who solves "ikagawashii" (suspicious) cases.

Gouriki comments: "I personally love mysteries! I want to be in a drama that will make people burst out in laughter together with a cool and pleasant Tamaki-san".

Tamaki comments: "It's my first time playing a detective, so I want to have fun portraying this character. Gouriki-san has a bright and energetic image. The story has a pretty strong comedic taste, so I hope that both of us can create that kind of atmosphere".

Should Yukie Nakama and Yuka reconsider their career paths as their dramas are branded as flops?

1: 五十京φ ★ 2013/11/03(日) 12:27:44.17 ID:???0
Sad results this autumn as these popular actresses seem to be taking the ratings down with them.

The stories aren't that bad, but two dramas which are not showing any signs of recovery are Yukie Nakama's Honey Trap (Fuji TV) and Yuka's Hakuba no Oujisama (NTV).

Honey Trap's lead is EXILE's AKIRA, but no matter how you look at it, Yukie Nakama seems like she's the main actress as she plays a mysterious woman in the drama. 6%-7% isn't shocking for a drama shown at 11 pm, but with the 'industrial spy' theme, Nakama's presence, and messy character relations, people can't seem to get emotionally attached to the drama. The ratings might still drop from here.

Hakuba no~ starts at 11:59 pm so no one will say it's a flop even if it only gets 4%-5%. Even the previous season's Machiisha Jumbo!! didn't reach an average of 5%. This drama though, started off with 5.6%, and went as low as 2.6%. The drama is about a teacher's love story, and Yuka's partner is a younger Takahiro Miura. They even had a teaser where they didn't reveal the actress until episode 1, but it did not lead to results.

People may see Yukie Nakama and Yuka as "expired goods", but there are still cases like Koyuki in Legal High and Yuki Uchida in Dr. X who still shine brightly as they now play supporting roles.

Nakama will be playing a supporting role in the next morning drama, but it might be about time for her to reconsider her own standing.
