(Partial translation)

Haruma Miura (23) has been cast to play the lead role in the live action adaptation of Shingeki no Kyojin (2015). He will be playing the role of the protagonist who will fight against the titans who possess massive power. They are still in preparation for filming which will start in summer. The story will also be including original elements. Details are still under wraps, but this just might turn into Miura's biggest role yet.

Masaharu Fukuyama is also in Rurouni Kenshin?

1: 頭突き(新疆ウイグル自治区) 2014/01/17(金) 09:35:07.37 ID:ciVKgu4sP BE:2924736948-PLT(12101) ポイント特典
There is still a big-named cast member in Rurouni Kenshin who has not been revealed yet. "That's apparently Masaharu Fukuyama-san. He's from the same agency as Takeru Sato, and is being kept under wraps for the time being. He's playing Kenshin's mentor, Seijuro Hiko" - (showbiz agency staff)

Fukuyama was nowhere to be seen in the completion party, but his "silhouette" was apparently seen at the raffle drawing.

"One of their prizes for the raffles was a REGZA, which Fukuyama-san endorses, and there was also a prize there coming from the supposedly missing 'Hiko Seijuro', which was a pair of roundtrip tickets to Hawaii. It was much more expensive than the prizes that the other actors have contributed." - (movie insider)

There's also news that Sato himself offered Fukuyama to play the role. "When Sato-kun was in Fukuyama-san's radio program last year, he directly asked Fukuyama-san to play the role of Seijuro Hiko. Fukuyama-san apparently agreed to that, and the agency gave their go signal." - (movie insider)

Then why can't they announce it yet? This has something to do with their production costs. "This 2-part sequel has already cost them over \3 billion. They will also need to spend for advertising and promotions, and the 2 movies will have to gross a combined total of 8 billion at the box office in order to avoid losses. For this, they'll take a look at the advanced ticket sales first and depending on the result, they will also make Fukuyama-san take part in the promotions to increase the hype surrounding the movie." - (same source)

Mai Kuraki to sing the theme song for Majo no Takkyubin, new trailer revealed

1: 禿の月φ ★ 2013/12/10(火) 04:17:14.09 ID:???P
New information has surfaced about the live action version of Majo no Takkyubin, as the main theme song of which will be sung by singer Mai Kuraki.

Yumi Matsutoya sang the theme song for the 1989 anime movie, while Mai Kuraki's composition "Wake me up" will be used for this version.

It's got the sense of speed that perfectly suits the main character Kiki as she flies freely throughout the vast sky, and even director Takashi Shimizu showed his satisfaction for the piece saying, "It immediately struck a chord the moment I listened to it". He further comments: "Not only does it fit the image of the movie, but it's also a transparent and energetic number that represents 'new beginnings', perfect for Kuraki-san's 15th anniversary in the industry". "This is a story that everyone knows so I am definitely feeling the pressure, but I was given courage by her as I felt that she was taking on this massive challenge together with me. I may be known as a horror movie director, but I hope to go for a new kind of 'wake me up!!' in this movie together with her singing voice."

Kuraki's comments on the song: "I wrote the lyrics with the thought of not giving up whatever may happen, and to do things that are true to oneself". "As for the sound, I sang the song while imagining Kiki-chan riding a broom and flying across the sky."

So who should be cast in the live action adaptation of Shingeki no Kyojin?

1: 禿の月φ ★ 2013/12/04(水) 19:13:56.69 ID:???P
(Related post HERE)

Following the announcement of the live action adaptation of Shingeki no Kyojin, the Internet was abuzz as everyone had their opinions as to who they wanted to see portray which character.

For Eren Yeager, some people named Tori Matsuzaka, Takeru Sato, and his seiyuu from the anime series Yuki Kaji. For Mikasa Ackerman, some have been voicing out Kiko Mizuhara and Rina Ohta, while others are calling for Ayame Gouriki. Machiyama, one of the scriptwriters, was recommending Ai Hashimoto for the role on Twitter (which has been deleted).

The voice to use a foreign cast apart from Mikasa, who is the last known living Asian, is also pretty strong as people have been saying, "Can you really make Japanese people play the parts of the commanders, the soldiers, and Jean!?", and "Make foreigners play the part but dub their voices over with the anime seiyuus!"

There are also a lot of people predicting that some talents from Johnny's or AKB will be used as well.

The anime which started airing in April of 2013 has created a huge sensation, even leading to Linked Horizon, who provided the main theme song, joining the lineup of this year's Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Fans of the series have been steadily increasing, as more people are following this news closely than it was first announced two years ago.

NHK to hold auditions for a "foreigner heroine" for next year's autumn morning drama "Massan"

1: 三毛猫φ ★ 2013/11/18(月) 14:27:00.67 ID:???0
NHK has announced some details concerning their morning drama for the autumn-winter season next year. The title will be Massan.

It will be based on the lives of Masataka Taketsuru and his wife Rita Cowan. Taketsuru supported Sapporo Olympic's "Hinomaru Air Group", and founded Japan's whiskey industry. The drama will revolve around this non-Japanese heroine who endures the hardships of life with her husband, as they express the "beautiful, never-say-die spirit of the Japanese people".

Similar to Amachan which paved the way for Rena Nounen, this drama will be holding auditions for the heroine beginning January of next year, and will finalize their choice around February to March. The screenplay will be written by Daisuke Habara, winner of the exceptional screenplay award at the Japanese Academy Awards for the movie Pacchigi!, and the best screenplay award from the same award-giving body for the movie Hula Girl.

Live action Lupin III cast minus Fujiko has been finalized? Sho Sakurai as Daisuke Jigen?

1: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/10/31(木) 16:13:00.13 0 ID:
There has already been talk of a live action adaptation for Lupin III for about 2 years now, and that Arashi's Sho Sakurai will be in it. But Shun Oguri will be playing Lupin, which means that Sakurai will only be playing a supporting role, as Daisuke Jigen.

"TouSpo initially reported that Erika Sawajiri will be playing Fujiko Mine, and that Satoshi Tsumabuki and Norika Fujiwara will also be in the movie. But after numerous revisions with the planning and casting, it seems that they were finally able to start filming in Thailand this month. There's no changing the fact that Oguri will be playing the lead, but the bigger shock here is that Sakurai will only be playing second fiddle to him. This is an irregularity, as it is hard to imagine anyone from Arashi not playing the lead role in a movie." - (executive at a production company)

True, it's not far-fetched that fans will cause an uproar if a member of Japan's national idol group will only settle for a supporting role.

"But Sakurai is a huge fan of the Lupin series, and he was overjoyed by the offer. Even Jun Matsumoto said, 'I also want to be a part of this, even just a cameo'. These personalities probably already consider it an honor to be part of such a well-loved franchise." - (same executive)

But up to now, there has been still no official word that the live action adaptation of Lupin is indeed underway. A portion of the media has been reporting its authenticity because of the following reason:

"It appears that it's already being treated as 'official news' in Thailand. There has never been any official announcement in Japan about this project, but even Thai actress Yayaying uploaded a portion of the script on SNS and announced that she 'will be starring alongside the Japanese idol, Sho Sakurai' to her fan club. Even the producers seem troubled by these actions that have violated their confidentiality." - (showbiz pro representative)

And according to the executive above, "As for the other cast members, there's Taichi Saotomoe, who will be playing Goemon Ishikawa, and the candidates for Fujiko Mine are Masami Nagasawa and Kyoko Fukada. They still have not finalized yet who will be playing Fujiko despite starting filming, and it seems that things haven't been smooth sailing for them at all". The movie is reportedly set for a Spring 2014 release, as we all await an official announcement
