miwa to play the heroine in the movie "Maestro!"

1: キミを見てるといつもハートDOKI*DOKI@谷岡φ ★ 2014/03/09 22:35:46
It was revealed that miwa will be starring in the movie Maestro! which is slated for a 2015 release.

miwa herself announced this at the miwa spring concert 2014: Shibuya Monogatari ~Kan~ held at the Kokuritsu Yoyogi Kyogijō's 1st gymnasium. After performing her new song "Let me go" during the encore, she stopped and said: "There's something that I have to tell everyone", and surprised everyone in attendance after announcing that she will be in a movie. She continues, "I'll be balancing my musical activities and the filming of the movie. I have no experience at all in acting and I feel like I'll have my hands full with it, but I'm gonna give it my all!".

Maestro! is a live action adaptation of Akira Saso's manga Maestro, where former members of an orchestra that had to disband due to their sponsor going bankrupt gather once again under a mysterious conductor and aim to perform once more at a recital. The young concert master will be played by Tori Matsuzaka, Toshiyuki Nishida will play the part of the conductor, and miwa will play the role of the heroine who is a flute player.

Satoshi Tsumabuki, Kazuya Kamenashi, and Yusuke Kamiji to star in the movie Vancouver no Asahi

1: かばほ~るφ ★ 2014/02/20 07:44:53
Actor Satoshi Tsumabuki (33) will be starring in the movie based on the "legendary baseball team". Vancouver no Asahi (director Yuya Ishii), slated for a December release, is about the next generation of Japanese immigrants in Canada who fought against racism and poverty through baseball in order to inspire and give strength to their fellow immigrants. Joining Tsumabuki are other baseball enthusiasts in the industry such as KAT-TUN's Kazuya Kamenashi (27) and Yusuke Kamiji (34).

The story is based on the actual Japanese-Canadian baseball team "Vancouver Asahi" which existed before the war. They defeated Canadian teams one after another and became a glimmer of hope for the Japanese settlement, and eventually won the favor of the white society.

Tsumabuki plays the role of a Japanese nisei (2nd generation Japanese-Canadian) named Reggie Kasahara, the shortstop of the team who works in a lumbermill. This movie will not be a mere baseball movie but will mostly focus on the drama aspects of the story. The producers' reason for casting Tsumabuki was that they "wanted an actor whom people feel a sense of closeness to, and can easily empathize with". He's the only player in team Asahi who has never played baseball, but he trained hard for the role as the staff said "He was good enough to perform a sidethrow during his first training session."

The rest of the team is made up of talents who have been involved with baseball in one way or another. Former little-league player Kamenashi will be playing the role of the ace pitcher Roy Einishi, while Kamiji who used to be the catcher of the New York Mets' pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka in high school will be portraying Tom Miyake, the team's catcher. 2nd baseman Kei Kitamoto will be played by Ryo Katsuji (27) and 3rd baseman Frank Nojima by Sousuke Ikematsu, both experienced in baseball as well.

From Twitter:

Before Director Shinji Higuchi's Shingeki no Kyojin starts filming in May, we'd first like to hire people who would be playing the role of the titans before calling for the other extras.

These people will be considered cast members, and will be given daily allowance not lower than \10,000. But the requirements are pretty high. For the days that the cast member will be participating, the production side will be shouldering the transport and lodging costs. Men and women of all ages are welcome to apply for the role.

-----
Requirements:
* People who can withstand a maximum of 6 hours in makeup.
* People who are fine with being on camera half naked.
* People who can join anytime between May and July on 2 weeks notice.
* People with various characteristics. People with distinct features and who have confidence in their peculiar movements.

Those who have seen the original will know what the above mean.

The requirements may be high, but those who wish to participate should agree to the above conditions.

We will first select from pictures, then there will be a 2-day audition at Toho Studio of Tokyo's Setagaya-ku. Applicants who cannot attend the 2-day audition from 10am to 5pm may send in their videos.

Mirei Kiritani to star as a sentai heroine in the movie "Joshi-zu"

1: 禿の月φ ★ 2013/12/19(木) 05:15:04.12 ID:???P
Mirei Kiritani has been cast in director Yuichi Fukuda's upcoming original movie Joshi-zu, her first time playing the leading role in an action flick.

Known for the Yusha Yoshihiko series as well as Hentai Kamen, director Fukuda has envisioned a "sentai hero + girls" theme in this comedy film, and will be working with Kiritani again after previously collaborating for 33-pun tantei in 2008.

Wearing the costume of a hero, Kiritani comments: "I'm actually really happy about this! I've been watching sentai hero programs on TV with my younger brother since we were small, so my tension rose the moment I put on this costume! I've even practiced cool poses a lot!" (laughs).

Kiritani will be playing the role of the "Red" of the group, a busy career-oriented woman who is serious in everything she does, including fighting with the evil monsters. She, together with a group of other girls were assembled under Commander Charles just because they have colors in their surnames. The team consists of an excessively serious Red, a gal-like Blue, a striking rich girl Navy, the dirt-poor Yellow, and the aspiring theater troupe member Green to form "Joshi-zu". The catch that Fukuda has included is that the 5 members are rarely together due to circumstances like work, beauty parlor commitments, romance, errands, and others.

Kiritani comments: "Sentai flicks will generally give off a stronger male impression, but it made me happy how they say that girls can become heroes too! My co-stars are all actresses of the same age as me, and we all have fun with our girl talk while filming. And I think that our close relationship and teamwork shows in the final product".

Fukuda comments: "I came up with this idea thanks to my wife. She's really selfish, has no experience as a member of society who cannot cooperate with someone, and I thought that it would be fun if a woman like this would be in a sentai team".

About Kiritani: "She was perfect for my image of Red, the leader of this leisure sentai group, with her uncomfortable-looking kick and her punch that has no impact whatsoever. The biggest impression she left on me was when she was sleeping on location, holding an onigiri". Joshi-zu will be shown early in the summer of 2014.

About making the masterpiece AKIRA into live action...

1: :禿の月φ 2013/08/02(金) 13:41:18
After several attempts to bring the project to life, it looked as if the planned live action Hollywood remake of AKIRA was dead last year, when the plug was pulled after the budget proved to be rather high. At the time, director Jaume Collet-Serra was attached to direct the movie (off the back of his success with the Liam Neeson-headlined Unknown), and Garrett Hedlund had been earmarked to star. Rumor has it though that Warner is currently in negotiations with Collet-Sera to revive the project.

47RONIN an unprecedented box-office bomb in Japan?

1: れいおφ ★ 2013/12/12(木) 09:44:29.76 ID:???0
A movie writer comments: "Considering the scale of the release and all the fanfare surrounding it, I don't remember any other movie flopping as much as this in recent history. I think this is unprecedented..."

According to Kogyo Tsushinsha's report, the movie 47RONIN which premiered last December 6, amassed a total of JP\ 152.48 million in the box office, with an attendance of 77,894 for the first 2 days over the weekend, ranking 6th for the week.

The figures alone will give one the idea that it's not doing bad at all, but this movie is being shown in 333 cinema houses, 753 screens nationwide -- a massive scale.

Applying simple math to this means that only 100 people went to watch per screen during those 2 days. That's 50 people a day per screen, and if the movie is shown 4x a day, that's just 12 people watching every time it's showing.

And to back these figures up, people who went to watch the film posted comments on Twitter and various forums like: "Holy crap!", "Vacant seat-fest ongoing!", and pictures of all the vacant seats were also uploaded, with some even saying that "the cinema is reserved for me alone."

"This movie is based on Chushingura, but given a fantasy twist where Tengu goblins and sorcerers are running all about. Keanu Reeves plays the role of a fictional character named Kai. It's pretty hard to understand, right? Even I myself don't know what kind of movie I'm talking about here." --(s/a above)

The Japanese cast is nothing short of extravagant, with names like Hiroyuki Sanada, Rinko Kikuchi, Tadanobu Asano, Kou Shibasaki, and ex-KAT-TUN member Jin Akanishi taking part in the movie. Keanu and Asanobu et. al. made their rounds on variety shows and promoted for the movie, but...

A member of the media who attended the press conference comments: "I think Jin Akanishi's presence didn't help their promotions. As we all know, Johnny's has limitations for their talents appearing on WEB contents. Even in the presscon which Akanishi took part in, they had to take him off the stage first before the WEB media photographers could take their photos, which took too much time as they had to separate it from the paper publications and TV shots. Even Keanu looked lost amidst all the commotion because of that".

If this continues, the movie might not even earn JP\ 500 million, a far cry from its budget of over JP\ 20 billion.
