Sony Pictures to release a movie about the SEGA vs. Nintendo saga
"Sony Pictures and Scott Rudin (Moneyball, The Social Network) are developing Console Wars as a feature film to be directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Knocked Up, Superbad). Rogen and Goldberg are also writing the screenplay.
Harris is serving as Executive Producer, and is also co-directing a documentary on the same subject, with Rudin, Rogen, and Goldberg producing as well."

Video game idols Game Girls to debut on March 6
The Game Girls will be Japan's first idols dedicated to video games, as six hardcore gamers were chosen from Alice Project to take part in this unit. The members are Yuki Sakura (21/Steam Girls:Kamen Joshi/FPS games), Maari Watanabe (24/Alice Juban:Kamen Joshi/Action games), Nodoka Sakura (23/Alice Juban:Kamen Joshi/RPG games), Anna Tachibana (21/Alice Juban:Kamen Joshi/Fighting games), Kanon Mori (24/Alice Juban:Kamen Joshi/Sports games), and Misa Kubota (19/Armor Girls:Kamen Joshi/Misc. games).
Their dream is to "appear in the commercials of their beloved video games" and to challenge different kinds of games as the mightiest idol unit in the entertainment industry. They will regularly have shows at Alice Project's P.A.R.M.S. Theater in Akihabara. A concert will also be held on the 6th to introduce the new unit.

Foreign gamers: "Japan's games only cater to the otaku culture"
When the games were still in the 16-bit - 32-bit era, Japanese games such as Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda and Pocket Monster dominated the gaming industry, winning the hearts of almost every international gaming fan. Japanese culture and technology was widely received well and was far from being considered a "solitary island".
One reason why Japan's video game industry has been called a "solitary island" now is the different paths Japan's market and the international market have taken, making both seemingly incompatible now. International bestsellers have not become hits in Japan, while international users are having a hard time understanding Japanese games, such as DMM's Kantai Collection ~KanColle~.
Japanese games may be prioritizing the quality of the visuals along with usability, but this in the process might have helped the country get immersed in its otaku culture further.
