Maki Horikita in a white dress for the stage play "9 Days Queen"

Maki Horikita was interviewed by the media in her stage dress for the play 9 Days Queen at Tokyo's Akasaka ACT Theater on the 25th. She seems to have taken a liking to the dress, commenting that "It's so pretty, cute, and wonderful. It's not that extravagant, and I like how it's slightly laid back.". Even her co-star Takaya Kamikawa said, "White really looks lovely on you".

This is the first time for Horikita to return as the lead character in a stage play after over 3 years, following her role in Jeanne d'Arc back in 2010. She comments, "I have not been a very good leader...", to which Kamikawa responded, "This is of course, not true. She's just being humble. She does not waver. And that unwavering stance leads to stability and security, and she is a wonderful role model for the rest of us". The stage play will run at the above venue from February 26 to March 16.

SCANDAL's vocalist HARUNA makes her stage play debut as a boy

All-girl 4-piece band SCANDAL's vocalist HARUNA (25) just made her stage play debut. She is currently in the play Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu Dai 4-shou kouhen Gekitotsu (runs until March 2). She ventured into the world of acting with the aspirations of improving her way of expressing herself. She also mentioned that she saw the first showing of this stage play series 11 years ago and has been a fan ever since. 

She plays the role of a boy who attends the Ginga Teikoku Younen Gakko, and she says: "I'm playing the role of the opposite sex for my very first stage play, so it was trial and error for me at the beginning of our rehearsals. I have been able to experience a different kind of tension and nervousness on stage here compared to when I have concerts with the band, but I'm enjoying this experience.".

Gou Ayano, Hiroki Narimiya, and Atsuko Maeda to star together in Ninagawa's stage play

Actor Gou Ayano (32) will be playing the lead in a stage play for the first time in Yukio Ninagawa's Taiyou 2068 which will begin in July at Shibuya's Bunkamura Theatre Cocoon. This is a science fiction-themed play where Hiroki Narimiya (31) will be joining him. It has been 7 years since Narimiya last worked under Ninagawa's guidance. Also making her stage play debut will be actress Atsuko Maeda (22). The story of Taiyou 2068 is based on the novel Taiyou by Tomohiro Maekawa which won the Yomiuri Engeki grand prize in 2012. Ninagawa has rewritten the script for the play.

Ayano comments: "I want to face this head on without getting carried away. I would like to absorb and steal everything Yukio Ninagawa-san has to offer in order for me to be able to express everything from the bottom of my core".

Narimiya comments: "Ninagawa-san to me is the strongest person, and I would like to challenge him in this".

Maeda comments: "Whether he'll be strict or kind, it's alright. I really want to enjoy this. I honestly want to give my all to Ninagawa-san".

Katsuhisa Namase and Eiko Koike return in the Legal High finale

Katsuhisa Namase and Eiko Koike will be coming back in the finale of Fuji TV's Legal High (12/18).

Namase plays Choichiro Miki, rival of Kensuke Komikado (Masato Sakai), while Koike plays Kimie Sawachi and Masato Yano plays Takao Ide -- all three coming from the Miki Law firm. They have only appeared in the first episode of this season, and went on a trip around the world after consoling Komikado who lost a case for the first time, but will be coming back for the finale and will play a huge role in the outcome of the story.

When Namase was told about public sentiments like, "Legal High is nothing without Namase and Koike......", he commented, "That's exactly true".

"But if there will be a 3rd season, we might still not be in it again (laughs). The difference from Season 1 is that we're not in the drama and because of that, things have become more extravagant". Koike follows this up by saying: "Because simpleton opponents like us aren't there anymore. We were probably too shallow, and the scriptwriter Kosawa-san probably wasn't able to write something up".

Yosuke Kubozuka to star in the stage play iSAMU

iSAMU will be about the life of the artist Isamu Noguchi, born to a Japanese father and an American mother, and will be showing his ups and downs in life as an artist who represents the 20th century. Yosuke Kubozuka (Related post HERE) will be playing the role of Isamu.

Director Amon Miyamoto comments:
"This time, I want to jump together with him. I want to fly to the end of the world him!"
"Isamu-san is the type of man who puts his work on a rough place, and then changes that place. He's a person who doesn't look for fame, but he wants to resonate in people's minds. I want to make it as fundamentally close to Isamu-san as possible. I want to make it as close to his mind as possible."
(On choosing Kubozuka) "Yosuke Kubozuka to me is a very pure person. He absorbs everything like a sponge and is faithful. I believe that the flame within him and his pure sides fit Isamu-san perfectly."

Go Morita laments lack of activities for V6

Go Morita attended a presscon for the stage play Natagirimaru together with the other cast members. Morita came out sporting a hairstyle which was shorter on the sides. The press asked if this was for his character role, to which he replied:
"I used to sport a bob-cut, but I couldn't memorize my lines at all. I then thought I should change something, so I settled for the sides because there was nothing else."

Morita was then asked what the reactions of the other V6 members were:
"The 6 of us haven't had any activities recently, and we haven't been seeing each other. All of us are just doing things by ourselves and--", where his co-star in the play Katsuhisa Namase cut in and said, "Are you fine with that?"
