Former child star Ryunosuke Kamiki on his second run of success

1: れいおφ ★@\(^o^)/:2014/06/19(木) 21:41:44.12 ID:???0.net
Having continuous success from being a child star until turning an adult is a Herculean task. He may have slowed down at one point, but Ryunosuke Kamiki has once again regained his position at the top as a very popular talent.

He joined long running theatrical troupe Jidougekidan at the age of 2 in 1995, and debuted in a commercial in the same year. He then made his acting debut in 1999 in Masahiro Nakai's drama Good News.

He was then known as a "genius child talent", and at 12, starred as the lead in the remake of Youkai Daisensou in 2005 where he won the "Best Newcomer" award in the 29th Japanese Academy Awards.

He starred in his first drama in 2006's Tantei Gakuen Q (NTV) and has constantly been appearing in dramas and movies ever since. One of the biggest reasons why he's survived for such a long time in the industry is his choice of talent agency.

"He's in this major production firm which manages the Southern All Stars, Masaharu Fukuyama, Takeru Sato, Haruma Miura, and Yuriko Yoshitaka, among others. He receives a wide variety of projects, and he'll be secure even when he gets involved in a scandal with a woman as the agency will clean up after the mess. If he were in a different agency, he would have lost offers and would gradually fade out from the industry." - (TV rep)

Kamiki starred in the silver screen adaptation of the best-selling novel Kirishima, bukatsu yamerutteyo in 2012 which sparked his second break. He then went on to make an impressive performance in last year's drama Kazoku Game, which left a stronger impact than the main star Sho Sakurai of Arashi.

He has been cast as the lead in the upcoming suspense thriller drama Henshin on WOWOW which is based on Keigo Higashino's novel, and will be in a number of upcoming movies, namely Rurouni Kenshin -Kyoto Taika-hen/ Densetsu no saigo-hen, Kamisama no iutoori, and next year's Bakuman. It seems that he has thorough knowledge of how to survive in the industry.

Mana Ashida doesn't look at the script at rehearsals; Director Isao Yukisada: "An actress who possesses wonderful talent"

1: れいおφ ★@\(^o^)/:2014/06/16(月) 18:04:25.04 ID:???0.net
Director Isao Yukisada, creator of many hit movies such as Sekai no Chushin de, Ai wo Sakebu and Kita no Zeronen, analyzed the appeal of Mana Ashida, with whom he worked for the first time in the movie Entaku: Kokko, Hitonatsu no Imagine

The movie is about an eccentric 3rd grader, Kokko, who lives with her huge family in Osaka, and how her character develops throughout the summer break.

(Partial Translation)

Director Yukisada commented on Mana Ashida: "She's an actress who possesses wonderful talent". "She's got a rich variety of expressions, and the thing that surprised me the most is her passion for acting. During our first script reading session, she came without her script. She's supposed to have the most number of lines compared to anyone, but she never looked at the script. That left such a huge impression". He also noted how Ashida acted as a leader to the other child actors in the cast.

Director Yukisada also takes credit for helping Ryunosuke Kamiki realize his potential in the movie Tooku no Sora ni Kieta. "I can sense this aura of a genius in Ashida which I also sensed when I worked with Kamiki-kun. And the thing that Mana-chan and Kamiki-kun have in common is that both of them love to act".
One cannot help but feel how bright Ashida's future is when seeing her running innocently on screen under Yukisada's guidance.

Mirai Shida releases her first photo book

1: 三毛猫φ ★ 2014/01/12(日) 14:48:30.33 ID:???0
Actress Mirai Shida (20), who wore a kimono to the launch of her photo book Arigato, explained the reason behind the title: "It's my way of expressing gratitude to my parents and my agency who have raised me up to now that I'm 20", as tears suddenly started falling down from her eyes. The reporters also looked baffled, but Shida followed this up with: "My tears have been pretty shallow these days... I never thought that I would still be working in this industry until I'm 20... I'm truly grateful."

Shida who has been in the industry since she was 6 says: "I feel that I still have a long way to go. I don't even have that feeling of reality that I'm an actress. I'm just doing this because I love acting...". When asked about which project has been the most memorable for her, she answered her first serial drama Joou no Kyoushitsu, which was when she was only in 6th grade. She comments: "As a gradeschooler, I did get to understand how difficult it was to make one drama in the span of 3 months. I don't really have a set objective in the future. I just want to cherish whatever it is that I have now. I want to take better responsibility".

On the other hand, she also expressed that she would want to fall in love. "But I know that it's not something that can easily be done by just wishing for it. I would like a gentle person who shares the same interests with me. Someone like Hiroshi in Crayon Shin-chan". She also continues, "I want to be a housewife. I've always looked up to mothers. I always wanted to get married by the time I turn 24, but 26 isn't bad too". And when she was asked if she'd still want to continue to work as an actress even after getting married, she laughed and brushed it off by saying "I haven't thought that far yet".

(Partial translation)
Child actress Mana Ashida (9) will be playing the lead role in the drama Ashita, mama ga inai (Mama won't be here tomorrow; Wednesdays-10 pm on NTV) beginning in January next year.

The story will be a touching drama about the children living in an orphanage after their parents left them for various reasons. Ashida will be starring alongside Rio Suzuki (8) who actually became an actress since she idolized Ashida.

Ashida will be playing the role of the "leader" among the orphans called "post" and comments: "This is a role that I haven't done yet, so I'm feeling nervous if I'll be able to portray it well, and I'm also looking forward to the challenge".

Suzuki who played the daughter in Hikari Mitsushima's Woman comments: "I'll be together with my idol Mana-chan, it's like a dream, I'm really excited. I'm truly happy". "We hope to make a series that will last in everyone's hearts".

The producer Yuta Fukui comments: "The lead in this drama are the children. We will be taking this ubiquitous theme of "love between parents and children", but will be focusing on it from the perspective of the children. I want people to be able to say that this drama is the biggest tear-jerker in the 21st century once it's finished".

Is it true that Ryunosuke Kamiki doesn't appear on variety shows because he's an anime otaku!!?

1: ときめきメモリアル(WiMAX) 2013/10/16(水) 15:42:28.19 ID:vXwXxv/v0
Is it true that the reason why Ryunosuke Kamiki doesn't appear on variety shows is because he's an anime otaku!!?

Kamiki only guests on variety and talk shows when he promotes his movies or dramas. Even when he does, he only makes simple comments. He doesn't even have a personal blog, leaving most of his private life shrouded in mystery. A showbiz insider makes a surprising revelation about this.

"Kamiki-kun's actually a 'hardcore otaku' who loves games and anime. Even when they're filming, all he ever talks about on set are things about anime. But apparently, his agency doesn't like the idea of pinning an 'otaku' image on Kamiki-kun. That's the reason why he doesn't have a blog, and why he isn't aggressively appearing on variety shows. During his rest days, he goes to his local video arcade. He was also addicted to the anime K-ON! a while back. According to his character description in the drama SPEC (TBS), his role Juichi Ninomae also likes K-ON! which reflects his personal taste."

Kamiki previously appeared on BOOK asahi.com's corner "My comic resume" in August of 2011, and he mentioned titles such as Kami nomizo shiru sekai and Baka to test to shoukanjuu which led to a few sectors actually doubting if Kamiki is indeed an otaku.

Kamiki has also lent his voice to several animation projects, starting off with Spirited Away in 2001. He proceeded to do various other animation films which include Howl's Moving Castle, and The Secret World of Arrietty from Studio Ghibli, and even voiced the lead character in 2009's Summer Wars directed by Mamoru Hosoda.

He also voiced the main character in The Princess and the Pilot, which gives him a pretty impressive track record as a voice actor. If Kamiki really is a hardcore otaku, then he must've been really happy with these projects.
