Ami Kikuchi makes Anne Nakamura cry
Anne Nakamura and Ami Kikuchi were both on the variety show Shabekuri 007 (Mondays 10~) as both of them were featured as "people whom you see each and every single day on TV these days" as the theme of the discussion was about "women's battle for survival".
Kikuchi said, "I don't want to disappear within the year", while Nakamura said, "I just don't want things to suddenly come to an end for me once I come full circle", as both expressed how they are not satisfied with their current standing. Kikuchi was serious throughout the segment, and also said that she's trying to obtain a license as a "head lymphatic massage therapist" in order to survive.
Shinya Ueda of Cream Stew commended the two on their passion for learning new things and said "If you're that serious about it, then you guys will be fine in 2014". But Nakamura said that "I feel like I'm losing (to Kikuchi) today", showing how she's dissatisfied with how the talk is proceeding.
Kikuchi said, "But Anne-chan, you did well in your own right!", seemingly looking down on Nakamura. The Shabekuri members then fanned the flame further and said, "Wow, you just seemed so condescending there! If you were to give her a score, how many points would you give?". Kikuchi candidly answered this and said, "I think she's scored about half (average). And it's alright since I myself have gotten above the half mark". Nakamura who was already teary-eyed at that point started crying and said, "Did I just turn into the villain here?".
There was also a moment in the program where Nakamura revealed that "Ami-chan is very familiar with other people (on other programs)", to which Kikuchi said, "Don't make it sound like I'm doing sexual favors!". The Shabekuri hosts then started doubting her, to which she replied, "There's no way I would! I'm protecting that aspect!".

The current state of the TV industry---Johnny's talents everywhere
TOKIO's Taichi Kokubun and his new morning show Ippuku! will be replacing TBS' long-running informational program Hanamaru Market when it ends in March. The main MC for this program is a former Johnny's talent himself, Hirohide Yakumaru. On the same time slot is another Johnny's talent, V6's Yoshihiko Inohara on NHK's Asaichi.
Johnny's has forbidden their talents to go up against one another on the same time slot, and this can be considered a bit of an "issue". But if you look at it from a different perspective, you can also say that the TV industry is in a "state of emergency" as there's no one else worthy enough to become MCs, or no one has the ability to overturn the power of Johnny's.

The agency must be all smiles with these developments, but most consumers have probably had enough of them already.

Talents who are going to disappear within the year survey
Who will be disappearing from the spotlight in 2014 among the talents who made their break in 2013? A survey was conducted and the names that emerged on top are Minako (30) and Kiyoshi Hayashishita (48) from TV Asahi's show Tsuukai! Big Daddy, cram school lecturer Osamu Hayashi (48) and mascot Funassyi.
According to a specialist, these talents are the ones who seem to have no direction, and are just basking in the spotlight because of the "novelty" and the buzz that they have created. If they do not have anything that will endear them to the viewers, then it will be the end of the road for them.
On the January 19 episode of Akko ni Omakase!, they revealed the results of a survey they ran in Tokyo's Shibuya. First is Minako-san, 2nd is Kintaro, 3rd is model/talent Louis Kurihara, 4th is Arie Mizusawa, and 5th is track and field athlete Sou Takei. Rounding up the list are Sugi-chan, Hayashita-san, comedy duo Hamaka-n and Funassyi. There was also a panel of respondents in the studio and theymentioned Mitsu Dan, Golden Bomber, Ayame Gouriki, Natsuna, Akemi Darenogare, AKB48, ROLA, Anna Tsuchiya, and Rena Triendl.

Talents who are much smaller than they seem
3rd is Mitsu Dan
"Mitsu Dan has this hot and slu++y image, but she only stands 158cm, the average for Japanese women. She looks so small and fragile in person, so much so that one could feel like he can just carry her home."
2nd is Karina
"There has always been this assumption that Karina is tall because she's a model, but she actually isn't, especially when you see her in person. Her official height of 165cm must be a bit exaggerated. And I think that she's at a disadvantage as people have always thought that she was a tall person."
1st is Kou Shibasaki
"There are really a lot of people who think that Kou Shibasaki is really tall. However if you look at her official height, she's only 160cm. When you see her on the set, she won't even stand out so much since it feels like she's being drowned out by all the people around her. We hear a lot of stories that her male partners in dramas really love her, and that's probably because of her tall image, which in reality, isn't necessarily true."

"Anti-ratings talents"!? Which talents would make people change channels?
And according to some research done at TV stations...
"Recently, it's Nana Suzuki and Serina. People either love or hate these two; it's either "They're cute" or "They're pathetic and irritating". They don't stand out too much on the hinadan (tiered platforms) talk shows due to the number of guests, but when these 2 are the featured guests, the ratings almost certainly take a plunge."
"It has to be Minako, Big Daddy's ex-wife. We had high hopes for her since her book became a bestseller. But the moment she appears on camera, we were really shocked when all the graphs went down. She's just a normal person after all without the golden label of "Big Daddy" pinned on her. All that's left for her is to get married again."
"There's also Mr. Koji Tamaki. He's had a lot of things going on with his private life for a few years now, right? It already showed in the ratings even from around the time of his divorce with Hiroko Yakushimaru and his DV against Mari Ishihara."
