The charter flight that carried Team Japan from Sochi arrived at 9:22 in the morning of February 25 at Narita Airport.

5 medal winners, along with President Seiko Hashimoto, were at Tokyo's Takanawa Prince Hotel for a press conference in the afternoon.

Yuzuru Hanyu's (19) comment: "I think I was able to deliver something to the people who watched us perform. I am truly honored that I was able to come back home attaining the best possible result, but I also have some issues to settle. I need to become a strong athlete who will be able to carry the burden of being the Olympic Champion. I want to donate the prize money that I won here to those who have been affected by the disaster, as well as for building more skating rinks".

Why athletes love MomoClo... "MomoClo saved me"

The Slopestyle Snowboard event has been newly added to the Winter Olympics this year, as 17-year-old snowboarder Yuki Kadono finished 8th. "I have no regrets. I've given it my all."

These athletes actually listen to music using their earphones as they make their runs in the actual event. Kadono was in fact listening to Momoiro Clover Z songs for the prelims and the first round of the finals.

Kadono has previously delared that he's a MomoClo fan. Another famous "mononofu", or MomoClo fan, in the world of sports is Masahiro Tanaka who's now taking his first step in his major league career with the New York Yankees. Tanaka used MomoClo's song "Hashire!" as his entrance song last season, and won 24 games without recording a single loss in the regular season. He was even invited as a guest judge on NHK's Kouhaku Uta Gassen last year.

There's also female figure skater Fumie Suguri, who was even invited over to MomoClo's Christmas concert as a guest performer. She wasn't able to participate in the Sochi Olympics, but she comments on Twitter: "MomoClo saved me. I now have dreams and aspirations. I am grateful for this encounter.".

There must be something in common among the athletes and MomoClo who are always thinking positively and give their all towards their huge goal.

There were reports that Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish (27) is dating Fuji TV's announcer Ayako Kato a.k.a. Katopan (28). Darvish immediately denied this on Twitter when someone asked, "Are you really in a romantic relationship with Katopan?". Darvish replied with "Not at all", "Please don't ask me about this. This I can declare.".

Athletes and the English language: Where did Keisuke Honda improve his English?

"I understand my situation. And I think everybody expects a lot from me."

Keisuke Honda, who joined AC Milan on the 5th of January, answered the club's official interview in fluent English. He always asks questions about the things that are unclear to him, and makes sure to grasp the gist and provide his answer.

Tadashi Yasuda, author of the book Learn English like the Indians!, has this to say about Honda:
"Honda looked extremely confident with his English in that 5-minute interview. I can imagine that he's really skilled with the language. Though I can't say that he has a rich vocabulary, he was able to express his feelings and use the common answers like, "I'm so happy to come here", and even used 'because' and 'so' afterwards to further expound on that. "

Honda has been studying English ever since he was in the J-League because he always dreamed of playing overseas. His English skills drastically improved when he moved to play in the Netherlands when he was 21.
"Holland isn't in the Anglosphere, but it's a very rare case wherein about 80% of the population can communicate in English. Honda was able to answer interviews in broken English even when he was still with his team back in 2008. He even studied the language properly with the English instructor that the club prepared for him, even after training sessions. This is where his English improved". - (Europe-based journalist)

Honda also used English heavily with CSKA Moscow, which lucky for him, was a club with a lot of different nationalities. 
He talked to them in English during the match, and would answer Russian interviews through an English interpreter. 

But Honda still needs to learn Italian if he wants to succeed, like Hidetoshi Nakata who's always compared to him. 

Nakata learned the language in the blink of an eye following his transfer to the Serie A.

Kei Nishikori (tennis) to marry Honami Tsuboi (gymnastics)!!?

A sportswriter reports: "There's this woman who's always seen walking a few steps away from Kei Nishikori (23) when he's playing overseas. She goes with him and takes care of his personal life".

This "personal manager" is Honami Tsuboi (24), apparently a former member of Japan's national rhythmic gymnastics team "Fairy Japan". The two were together at the Beijing Olympics 5 years ago but hardly talked to each other back then. They started dating 3 years ago.

"Nishikori and Tsuboi had dinner together with a common friend, and immediately hit it off." - (sports writer)

Their relationship deepened further when Nishikori was diagnosed with kidney stones. 
"Nishikori had to watch his diet so that the situation wouldn't worsen. Tsuboi-san studied nutritional science and wanted Nishikori, who spends most of each year abroad, to eat 'home-cooked food' all the time." - (tennis related staff)

Immediately after they began dating, Nishikori took her to his hometown in Matsue to meet his parents. She was apparently taught by his mom there the secret to the 'taste' of the Nishikori family.

"Nishikori, who rarely gets to visit his hometown, was able to take Tsuboi-san along with him in the latter part of September. He then announced to his relatives at the gathering that he would like to get married to her."
