1,000 bags of potato chips that contained Nana Mizuki concert lottery stubs illegaly disposed of; violator arrested

A large amount of potato chips were disposed of in Kobe City and Akashi-shi of Hyogo prefecture, as the Hyogo Police arrested Ikki Fukumoto (25), an office worker who resides in Hyogo prefecture's Uozumicho Shimizu, for illegal dumping.

The suspect disposed 89 boxes, totaling to about 1,000 bags of potato chips (total weight of 208 kilos) between May 4 and May 23 in 6 areas within Kobe City and Akashi City, such as in the woods and in empty lots. The suspect comments: "I did buy a lot of these, but I didn't know what to do with them so I just dumped them".

According to the police, the potato chips came with entry stubs for a chance to win seiyuu Nana Mizuki's concert tickets, as Mr. Fukumoto only cut the stubs out and did not eat the contents. Entries were only valid until the end of May.

Saori, pianist/stage director of band SEKAI NO OWARI, expressed her strong frustrations on Twitter on the 30th.

The band performed on the last day of JAPAN NIGHT held on the 29th at the Kokuritsu Kyogijo in front of a crowd of 60,000. But late at night, Saori suddenly Tweeted: "I'm fuming mad. Even if we get #1 in Oricon, and even if we get to play at the Kokuritsu, I didn't know that I could still feel this way.".

"What should I shout out on nights like this?". She continued, "If we can't produce results, then it's all pointless. We don't need any special award for our efforts.".

What happened to Saori? Some fans have worried if something happened during the concert.

GACKT, who appeared from nowhere and surprised Shibuya on Valentine's Day, conducted a "Guerilla Live" concert on White Day at Tokushima's Naruto Shiritsu Daiichi Jr. HS to fulfill his promise.

A male student from the said school sent GACKT a mail saying: "Can you please come to our graduation? I am now able to feel grateful to others thanks to you, and this time, I want to thank you directly. We'll be waiting for you on our graduation day."

This boy never had any sense of gratitude before, and would even resort to violence at times. But he says that he was able to change thanks to GACKT and his words of wisdom, and is now able to smile and talk with a lot of new friends.

GACKT wished to fulfill this promise and made a surprise visit to Tokushima. GACKT, who has always deemed it his calling to "give others a little nudge on the back", sang the song "No ni saku hana no you ni" as his message to the graduating students, embraced the boy, and left like the wind. 

This was broadcast on Niconico Video, and despite being shown at 9:00 am on a weekday, it got almost 34,000 views.

L'Arc~en~Ciel's 2 Kokuritsu concert dates immediately get sold out

Rock band L'Arc~en~Ciel's concert tickets for March 21 and 22 at Tokyo's Kokuritsu Kyogijō went on sale at 10 am on March 9 and sold out in an instant. 

L'Arc's last concert at the Kokuritsu was the finale of their 20th Anniversary World Tour in 2012, which was attended by a total of 110,000 people over 2 days. This month's shows break that record as 1 day has an 80,000 crowd capacity, making it 160,000 in total.

Their previous concert had a marching band reminiscent of an Olympics opening ceremony, complete with the lighting of the Olympic torch, and had over 1,000 fireworks on display. The gimmicks for this month's shows are expected to surpass those of the previous one.

The concerts this month will be simulcast live in cinemas around Japan, as well as in England, France, the US, Mexico, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Live viewing tickets will start to go on sale from the noon of the 16th onwards.

Rena Nounen to appear in NHK's Great Tohoku Disaster concert

Actress Rena Nounen will be participating in NHK's Shinsai kara 3-nen "Ashita he" concert (3 years from the disaster "On to Tomorrow" concert) which will be broadcast live on the 10th from the NHK Hall. Nounen will be making a VTR appearance. Also slated for an appearance is Sochi Olympics gold medalist Yuzuru Hanyu.

Nounen paid a visit to a high school photographer who has continuously taken pictures of Miyagi prefecture's Ishinomaki city throughout this time to document all the changes the city has undergone. Nounen comments: "I thought that this high school student who kept on taking photographs of his hometown was wonderful, as he was determined to do something in his own little way. It once again made me feel that I should also face whatever challenge that comes my way without turning back. And this was also my first time to take pictures with other people so I really had fun. Now I'm in love with Ishinomaki's ocean and mountains.".

SMAP's Masahiro Nakai and NHK's Yumiko Udo will be hosting the event, as Sayuri Ishikawa, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Masashi Sada, Toshiyuki Nishida, Chisato Moritaka, AKB48, SMAP, Kobukuro, Yuzu, and Kis-My-Ft2 will all be participating.

BABYMETAL breaks the record of the youngest to ever perform at the Budokan

3-piece metal idol unit BABYMETAL performed at the Nihon Budokan for the first time. They are now the youngest to ever perform at the Budokan, with an average age of 14.7 years.

They're a metal-themed idol unit, and are known to not have any talks during their concerts. The group consists of vocalist SU-METAL (16), and 'screamers' YUIMETAL (14) and MOAMETAL (14). They performed their hit songs "Ijime, dame, zettai" and others, and will be performing this summer in Europe.

L'Arc~en~Ciel to hold a solo concert at the Kokuritsu on March 21 & 22

It was revealed on the 7th that rock band L'Arc~en~Ciel will be performing at the Kokuritsu Kyogijō on March 21 and 22. It will be 1 year and 10 months since their first performance at the stadium, dating back on May 26 & 27, 2012. L'Arc has been on hiatus since their May 31 concert in Hawaii on the same year, and will be making their grand return to the music scene with a bang.

Monster band L'Arc has been silent ever since their world tour in spring 2012, spanning 10 countries and 14 cities, which was attended by a total of 450,000 people. Following their tour finale in Hawaii was a DVD release, but there were no new songs from them, which led to fans becoming worried as to what the future holds for the band.

During this break, vocalist hyde and drummer yukihiro were busy with their respective side bands while guitarist ken and bassist tetsuya were recharging, as each member raised his motivation leading to this comeback gig.

As their way of saying thanks and apologizing to the fans, they are promising an even bigger and more extravagant production compared to their previous concert here nearly 2 years ago.

KAT-TUN fans in despair when the bullet train stopped: "Shinkansen, move it! We won't make it to the concert!"

Due to a fire in front of Tokyo's Yurakucho station on the 3rd of January, the shinkansen, as well as all the JR lines, were put to a stop. 

Operations resumed after noontime, but this coincided with the so-called "U-turn rush" from the new year holidays, as a vast amount of passengers were stranded in various stations around Tokyo. Numerous complaints were heard, such as, "I can't go home at this rate" and "I won't be able to make it to the concert!".

KAT-TUN's fans were very poignant. A lot of fans set off on that day from different provinces on board the shinkansen to participate in the event at Yokohama in the afternoon and caused a stir as people started shouting "Shinkansen, move it!", "We won't make it in time!", "Someone, please buy the goods on my behalf!".

DIR EN GREY to perform at Australia's Soundwave Festival

DIR EN GREY will be taking part in Australia's Soundwave Festival in February-March 2014. 

The 2014 Soundwave Festival will kick off on February 22 at Brisbane's RNA Showgrounds, and will make its way around Australia, including Sydney's Olympic Park, Melbourne's Flemington Racecourse, Adelade's Bonython Park, and Perth's Claremont Showground. The Festival will be headlined by Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold, while DIR EN GREY will be performing in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide.

It will be DIR EN GREY's first time in Australia, and they have this to say about the invitation to perform at the event: "We are already looking forward to meeting our fans who have been waiting for us all this time in Australia and to how we will be spending time with the Australian audience".

Once they return to Japan, they will be having concerts at the Nihon Budokan on March 8 and 9. "This will be the culminating event for DUM SPIRO SPERO so we are hoping to pour our feelings into this as well".

Techno-pop unit Perfume's newest album LEVEL 3 has been conquering the download charts not just in Japan but overseas as well. Due to high demands, their album will be released in CD format in 14 different regions worldwide. Why is Perfume popular overseas?

"Perfume's best dance album" is the label attached to this latest release, and has been off to a flying start as it debuted at number 1, their 5th consecutive album to debut at the top spot, and the first time a female group has done so in 20 years and 8 months, with Princess Princess being the last. It has been made available for download in 119 countries and regions, and ranked 1st on Japan's weekly iTunes album charts, and also placed 1st on Hong Kong's, Taiwan's, Singapore's, and Thailand's iTunes electronic album charts. It also ranked in the top 10 in 19 different countries including the US and Canada.

According to the Tokyo Fire Department, numerous fans in attendance started complaining about their health at around 8:30 pm, and about 100 people required medical attention at around 9:30 pm.
NEWS' concert was cancelled at around 7:30 pm due to the heavy rains on Tokyo's Chichibunomiya Rugby Grounds.
