Bakuman was created by the duo Tsugumi Ohba (writer) and Takeshi Obata (illustrator), the same pair who spawned the hit DEATH NOTE. Bakuman was published in Shuukan Shonen Jump from 2008~2012. Tha manga was a huge hit, having 20 volumes, and sold over 15 million copies. The anime version also lasted for 3 seasons from 2010~2013. Moritaka Mashiro (Saiko), a highschool boy who's a very talented illustrator, was persuaded by the genius Akito Takagi (Shuujin) of the same class, an aspiring manga writer, to form a pair and publish their own manga series. The manga tells the story of this duo as they eventually achieved their dream of running a manga on Shonen Jump and the struggles that come along with it. Sato will be playing the role of Moritaka, while Kamiki will be playing Akito.
Kamiki comments: "I really love the manga and read it so much that I worn out the comic books so I'm thrilled about this". Sato comments: "I will do everything to the best of my ability to convey the history, the reality, and the wonders of Japanese manga and animation to the rest of the world". Director Ohne comments: "I wanted Sato-kun and Kamiki-kun to play the roles, so this is perfect! I myself had to give up my dream of becoming a mangaka when I was in grade school, so I will pass on this dream to Moritaka and Akito, and make it happen in this movie!!"
The color doesn't seem right
It would be better if it's a combi between me and Kamiki-kun
It should've been cast the other way around
I do think that these manga creators were amazing for getting all these children readers hooked on being mangakas
What about Eiji?
Looks like Takeru Sato's always doing these live action adaptations of Jump animes
I guess a live action version is feasible with this cast
They should switch roles
Kamiki-kun's relatively small so he can still barely pass off as a high school student, but Takeru Sato's 25...
They wanted to put Takeru Sato in the top bill so much that they even had to reverse the roles, huh...
Takeru Sato's being used quite a lot, huh
Amuse: "We're not too fond of the idea of having Sato play a supporting role next to Kamiki.. If you can't accept this, then we'll propose this to someone else."
The moment that the agency's authority has been put into play already makes this a crappy movie.
Seeing how the agency's using its power to full effect makes me lose interest
If we're just thinking about Amuse's actors, then
Saiko: Ryunosuke Kamiki
Shuujin: Haruma Miura
Would've been a more viable option. But I guess they wouldn't be able to attract as much viewers with this cast.
A 20 and 25-y/o as middle schoolers, that makes my heart race
Gouriki's warming up
Their ages aren't that close to each other's, right? How old is the guy that Sato will be playing?
Should be the other way around
I thought, "Yeah, this'll work", but when I realized it, it was actually the other way around
No matter how much you think about it, it's supposed to be reversed
It definitely should be the other way around, but I think Kamiki will do something about this
Why, if it isn't Kenshin and Sojiro
Maybe ONE OK ROCK for the theme song?
I grew to hate these 2 protagonists as the story progressed and stopped reading it w
Why did they suddenly think of turning this into a movie just now?
Megocchi as the heroine
When are they going to stop playing roles of highschoolers just because they're small?
Another movie that revolves around the casting
The manga was good until they became mangakas
I think this will turn out to be an interesting movie. I have no grounds on this, though.
Moteki was good. Will Bakuman become a hit?
I wonder who'll play the narcissistic-looking guy who drew the otter manga?
Hirosue would like to say a word to Sato who'll be trying to play a middle schooler ↓
It's not on a scale where it's supposed to be made into a movie w
Takeru Sato's a Shonen Jump actor
And if they cast Emi Takei as Azuki, then it's entirely Rurouni Kenshin
Sayaka Kanda as Azuki. Then Seiko as the mom.
The heroine wanted to become a voice actress in the story, right? Then they should bring in an actress who's had experience at voice acting.
I want Fukakyon to play the heroine's mom
Nounen or Erika Ikuta as Azuki
Megocchi will be the heroine. That's the law of the entertainment world.
Tatsuya Fujiwara will be playing Eiji Niizuma, then
The problem is who'll play the role of Nakai-san
Won't they actually cast an ikemen actor as Nakai?
Goro Kishitani as the editor-in-chief
Won't Hiroshi Abe be good as the chief editor?
Someone with a deep face like Kazuki Kitamura should be cast as one of the editors. I wonder who'll play Eiji.
But when you talk about live action adaptations of mangas, they just unnecessarily change the gender of some characters
It's not reversed. It's just that Kamiki-kyun can be cast as either one, but Takeru Sato can't play Takagi.
It's totally the other way around
It's supposed to be reversed~
I was shocked when I heard that Takeru Sato will be playing Mashiro
The director probably hasn't read the original.
So everyone really thinks that they got the casting the other way around, huh. I'm relieved. Sato is much better off playing flashy roles.
