Ohta continued: "That one's turning up to be one heckuva noisemaker, right?" "I'm not interested in it all, though." "Seriously... I'm already feeling depressed at the thought of the World Cup".
His partner Yuji Tanaka said: "I guess that's true with you Ohta-san. It starts in about a month from now", to which Ohta responded: "Ugh, just thinking about that disgusting fanfare and noise that comes with it...".
Tanaka proceeded to explain that the World Cup will be held in Brazil, meaning that the games will be played in the morning so there won't be too much commotion at night, but Ohta comments: "Seriously, I'm getting the doldrums... Just the mood of it, like how everyone will go 'Ehhhh---!? You didn't watch the game!?' and 'Uwaaaa!!'."
"Why should I sympathize with you on something like that! Even if I did watch the games, I wouldn't share my feelings with you!"

I'm not interested in soccer either so I feel troubled when people start talking to me about that, and I guess I do feel out of place. But then again, I can't understand why you'd have to tell that to the public and rain on everyone else's parade.

I think in a sense, what Ohta said is similar to the what the butas of each sport are saying to each other here at the GeiSpo boards w It's just that Ohta said something similar to what the Yaki-butas would say.
Putting the grossness of how people are making noise about this aside, it's not everyday that such a festive event comes so it'd be a waste if you don't enjoy it

After criticizing the movie Frozen, he goes on to dis the World Cup. Looks like Ohta can only generate buzz using negative press.
I strongly agree with Ohta. Why are people making such a huge noise even if we don't even have the slightest of chances to win the whole thing? That's what I don't get, it's not about liking soccer or not. Look at other tournaments, no one would rejoice even if you only got to the top 8. You just have start rooting for them once they become stronger, or else the players will just get disillusioned.

When you consider the scale of the tournament, finishing in the top 8 at the World Cup is much more of a big deal than winning the WBC
