Neko no ongaeshi was pretty ordinary story-wise, but the ending song by Ayano Tsuji was such a classic

They had a lot of issues with the order of broadcast this year,
but Ponpoko > Mimi wo sumaseba > Neko no ongaeshi
followed the timeline properly.
It all had the same setting.
Naoko of Kaze Tachinu is a fine woman, but that one actually makes you realize that there's no such person in real life
