The tallest were only about 5-story tall buildings.
There wasn't any concrete in the first place.
Only feels like a huge flop to me, even before they start...

世界観が違いすぎないか。中世欧州の城塞都市風の町が舞台だったはずだけど、荒廃したビルの廃墟で海から上陸してくる巨人を日本人が迎え撃つ話になるんだろうか

I like Gunkanjima. I've gathered quite a lot of images of it, and it's totally uninhabited with a really nice mood to it so I do think that it's an amazing location to film in.
I also like Shingeki no Kyojin. I started off with the anime, though, but I think the actions and the impact of the titans all lived up to the hype that surrounded it.
But I really don't know how to feel about Shingeki no Kyojin filming in Gunkanjima.
The setting is too different. It's supposed to be set in a European medieval town surrounding a castle, and this just looks like some Japanese people trying to intercept titans who will be coming from the sea.
It's shaping up to be an entirely different thing already... Well, I'm fine as long as it'll be good.
Don't tell me it'll be based entirely in Japan

And with the main character a Japanese, then I think it would really be much better if they made an entirely different storyline and world setting instead. I would have gone to a movie house and watched if they invested in making an animated movie, though...

The tokusatsu scenes looked pretty good so I'm looking forward to this. It'll be impossible to stay faithful to the original, so I'm fine with original aspects instead.
