Mokomichi Hayami's passion for olive oil and his quest to entertain through cooking

"Ever since the program started, a lot of people have shown their support. I get really happy when I touch other people with my cooking, especially when I receive messages such as, 'We serve your recipes at parties', or 'My children and husband enjoyed the dish I got from you'."

The morning program ZIP! started in April 2011, and Mokomichi has been a part of it since its inception, showing up right before 8 am in his corner "MOCO's Kitchen". Ranging from Western cuisine to Japanese, his original creations, as well as viewer requests, he has already featured over 700 recipes to date.

He says that he has always liked cooking and taking pictures of it since he was small, and has started taking notes of his recipes thanks to this program. "I try to imagine the food that I eat outside and add my personal twists, and also show the food that I have personally invented. We broadcast everyday from Monday to Friday so I've been trying to come up with recipes using different ingredients so that the viewers won't get tired."

His overusage of olive oil and other spices and additives has also become an Internet sensation: "I just love olive oil, plain and simple. I'm actually surprised that everyone's shocked at how much olive oil I use even though I personally think I'm just using it normally.

Mokomichi also told a story about someone who talked to him at the supermarket the other day and told him: "The way you used olive oil this morning was amazing!". He says that he stores 30 bottles of olive oil in his house.

He is also busy with his drama filming, and says: "When I get home, I just grab a frying pan and make something while washing something else. It's not really that difficult. I'm also planning on making sweets next time when I go filming for the drama".

"The program is shown in the morning so I'm always trying to consciously make the dishes as flamboyant and as colorful as possible. Making it brightly gives more smiles to everyone, and I hope that the program will help make the viewers more cheerful and energetic as they set out for office or to school.

He is a tall ikemen, but he is not intimidating at all. When he cooks naturally on the show, one can definitely feel that he genuinely loves to cook, and is the perfect man for the job in mornings.

It does seem like he looks nastier than when he was in Regatta.

He must have gone through a lot so there's no helping it, though.

Using expensive oil for salad is really delicious. Seriously.

俺も以前からオリーブオイラーだったので、番組見てても、それほど大量に使ってるとは感じなかったんだが…

ただしプロデュース料込みでも1本5000円はねーわなw
I've also been a heavy olive oil user for a long time now, so I don't really think that he's using an insane amount of oil when I'm watching him cook...

焼いたフランスパンにEXオイルに醤油数滴入れた物を付けて食うと美味い

正月の餅とかもこれでいける
Eating toasted french bread with EX oil with a few drops of shoyu is really good.

Even the mochi during new year is good with this too.

People may know him now as an olive oil comedian, but I do think that there aren't that many people who approve of him as an actor.

Well, he's under the agency Ken-on which is definitely strong so I don't think he'll be short of jobs.

顔の小ささとかスタイルは日本人離れしてるけど
あと老けてる

生田斗真、錦戸、EXILEのTAKAHIROと同い年には見えない
If you look at him calmly, he doesn't seem that much of an ikemen right?
His small face and his figure isn't like that of your average Japanese, though.
And he looks older than his age.


I can't see him as the same age as Toma Ikuta, Nishikido, and EXILE's TAKAHIRO.
