Mokomichi Hayami's passion for olive oil and his quest to entertain through cooking

ZIP! NTV Mondays~Fridays 5:50 AM
"Ever since the program started, a lot of people have shown their support. I get really happy when I touch other people with my cooking, especially when I receive messages such as, 'We serve your recipes at parties', or 'My children and husband enjoyed the dish I got from you'."

The morning program ZIP! started in April 2011, and Mokomichi has been a part of it since its inception, showing up right before 8 am in his corner "MOCO's Kitchen". Ranging from Western cuisine to Japanese, his original creations, as well as viewer requests, he has already featured over 700 recipes to date.

He says that he has always liked cooking and taking pictures of it since he was small, and has started taking notes of his recipes thanks to this program. "I try to imagine the food that I eat outside and add my personal twists, and also show the food that I have personally invented. We broadcast everyday from Monday to Friday so I've been trying to come up with recipes using different ingredients so that the viewers won't get tired."

His overusage of olive oil and other spices and additives has also become an Internet sensation: "I just love olive oil, plain and simple. I'm actually surprised that everyone's shocked at how much olive oil I use even though I personally think I'm just using it normally.

(continued after the jump)

Mokomichi also told a story about someone who talked to him at the supermarket the other day and told him: "The way you used olive oil this morning was amazing!". He says that he stores 30 bottles of olive oil in his house.

He is also busy with his drama filming, and says: "When I get home, I just grab a frying pan and make something while washing something else. It's not really that difficult. I'm also planning on making sweets next time when I go filming for the drama".

"The program is shown in the morning so I'm always trying to consciously make the dishes as flamboyant and as colorful as possible. Making it brightly gives more smiles to everyone, and I hope that the program will help make the viewers more cheerful and energetic as they set out for office or to school.

He is a tall ikemen, but he is not intimidating at all. When he cooks naturally on the show, one can definitely feel that he genuinely loves to cook, and is the perfect man for the job in mornings.

Did he get chubbier?
It does feel like he's put on some weight
Olive oil may be good for the body, but too much of it will make you fat
It does seem like he looks nastier than when he was in Regatta.

He must have gone through a lot so there's no helping it, though.

He uses too much salt.

He should also think of some dishes that have a less amount of salt.
On top of being too tall, he's also a bad actor so he should just stick to cooking
He did get fatter.

But it's kinda refreshing seeing someone whose neck is getting fatter instead of his body. w
He uses too much salt no matter how you look at it
Will you really get fat if you use olive oil?
It's amazing that he's gotten this popular with just olive oil (´
The olive oil comedian
Using expensive oil for salad is really delicious. Seriously.

Even if it's just something like garlic oil and putting just a little of it on tomatoes.
He's really a winner in life.
His popularity is rising just because of his cooking, and he's earning too.
He's probably Chef Kawagoe's successor.
I think he's a better cook that Chef Kawagoe.
Moko's appeal lies in his sloppiness, not in the olive oil
He's the genius chef who made a breakthrough with this new technique called "follow up olive oil"
I heard that adding more olive oil like that is originally a technique used in italy

I've also been a heavy olive oil user for a long time now, so I don't really think that he's using an insane amount of oil when I'm watching him cook...

But \5,000 per bottle of his olive oil is too much, even if it includes his production fee w

This guy is just a total copycat of Jamie Oliver.

Even the kitchen looks similar.

Eating toasted french bread with EX oil with a few drops of shoyu is really good.

Even the mochi during new year is good with this too.
He has 30 bottles of olive oil at home?...
That's already like a treasure chest.

But when he's in dramas, the ratings.... get jinxed w
Hayami as that robot was the best, though w
Kawagoe's too fishy, I hate that guy.
Anything is forgiven as long as you're an ikemen
This olive oil magician is so cool
And it really is a mystery how he doesn't have any of that aura that he's popular with the ladies despite being tall, a super ikemen, and being able to cook.
Well yeah, if you're a bi- who's more like gay
I think he's already over as an actor, so it'll all depend now on his ability to survive as a chef

People may know him now as an olive oil comedian, but I do think that there aren't that many people who approve of him as an actor.

Well, he's under the agency Ken-on which is definitely strong so I don't think he'll be short of jobs.
So all that olive oil wasn't just for show but is actually a part of his life, huh

If you look at him calmly, he doesn't seem that much of an ikemen right?
His small face and his figure isn't like that of your average Japanese, though.
And he looks older than his age.

I can't see him as the same age as Toma Ikuta, Nishikido, and EXILE's TAKAHIRO.
Does he also put olive oil on sweets?
Vanilla ice cream with olive oil is delicious
I heard that Mokomichi starts off his mornings with a cup of olive oil
And then relaxes to some warm olive oil before he goes to bed
You can buy 20 bottles of regular olive oil with the price of one bottle of his damn expensive olive oil
He's definitely one of the celebrities that you guys like
