Why was Kyary Pamyu Pamyu able to perform at the FNS Kayousai despite lip-syncing?

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is being criticized, or rather, is being laughed at within the industry.

The producer of the program FNS Kayosai released a rule that no one is allowed to lip-sync. The participants had to be "real singers" for the occasion. Even Goro Inagaki, with Johnny's backing him up, and AKB did not resort to lip-synching, but instead sang live. The eventual outcome can't be called good, though.

Kyary who came onstage though, just seemingly sang along to her CD, as one could clearly see that she was lip-syncing.

It is also still fresh in everyone's minds how she did the same during the summer edition of the program and was criticized by Chiaki, saying, "I don't consider the ones lip-syncing as singers. From an aspiring singer."

After the program, netizens were quick to criticize Kyary.
"She should just change her name to Kuchy Paku Paku*."
"It's the same as gravure idols receiving the airbrush treatment in photoshop."
"She won't be bashed if she just calls herself a performer, not a singer."

* (Kuchipaku = lip-sync)

Even "staged and scripted" acts aren't being allowed on variety shows these days, so one could have easily imagined what the reactions would be like when you don't sing live despite this order that it's supposed to be banned. So why did Kyary perform?

According to an industry insider: "Kyary proudly says that she is an 'artist'.

Kyary was originally a junior idol, and wanted to take the next step from that. But she didn't have the acting ability, the singing prowess, nor the body of a model.

She didn't have any sort of weapon at all. And so she made herself her own weapons, like her unique fashion sense combined with techno pop. She didn't want to let this go. And like how she expressed in her interview, "I don't want to pass by like a fad no matter what. I want to continue my career as an artist. I just want to bring forward the things that I've always wanted to do, be it fashion or music", she just really wants to establish herself as an artist. That's how she will be able to survive this glamorous industry. And that's why the FNS Kayousai is a stage that she could not avoid.

Looking back at her interview, she also said: "It's not that I hate the 'idols', but I really think that I'm not an idol. I think that the people who are calling me an idol don't really know that much about me. But I guess the things I do are similar to theirs, like wearing flashy clothes then smiling when I sing and dance." She's probably trying to become an artist similar to Kaela Kimura.

She challenged herself by performing at the FNS to break free from the impression that she is nothing but a mere puppet, but this has ironically strengthened that image further.

It's the policy of her agency so say direct your complaints at her agency.

And she came after Aki Yashiro and Demon Kakka's collaboration of trying to outperform one another, so it added more to how sad she was.

パフュームとかもそうだし。

歌そのもので勝負してる人が口パクはしらけるけど、キャリーぱみゅぱみゅが口パクしてるからってなんなん？と思うｗ

She herself sang those songs so who cares if she lip-syncs? It's not like I want to listen to the song anyway, I just want to enjoy that atmosphere.
Same goes with Perfume.
It'll be disappointing if the true singers are the ones lip-synching, but if it's Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, who cares? w

Fuji TV should be the one being bashed here. It's their fault for making someone who lip-syncs by default perform on the show.
Why don't you go interview the producer who said lip-syncing is banned?

Kikuchi-P announced on his blog last February that lip-syncing will be banned on 3 shows: Bokura no Ongaku, Shin Domoto Kyodai, and MUSIC FAIR. He never said anything about banning lip-synching on FNS. There are just fools who were under the assumption that this rule would also take effect on FNS because it has the same producer.

FNS doesn't ban their performers from lip-syncing.
There were also a lot of times where the performers would only sing one portion of the song live. It's wrong to blame Kyary alone.

Most of the singers sound really bad on FNS.
It must be because of the acoustics in the venue.

どっちも許されたのはスポンサーの関係だと思うよ
au was the program sponsor and their commercial was played.
The au one with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu on it.
Arashi's commercial was also played, and they too lip-synced.
I think both were allowed because of the sponsors.
