Aya Ueto to host the Japan Record Awards, her first time together onstage with her husband HIRO

Actress Aya Ueto (28) has been selected to host the 55th Annual Japan Record Awards (TBS - 12/30). This will be her 2nd time hosting the event, the first one being in 2008.

Her husband since September of last year HIRO (44) and his group EXILE have already won as one of the "Best Song" awardees for their song "EXILE PRIDE ~Konna sekai wo ai suru tame~" and are in the running to win the grand prize. The TV station is still "currently under negotiations with EXILE" concerning their participation in the said event, but HIRO will be focusing on his work as president and producing for LDH come next year, and will definitely make his grand appearance here so that everyone can send him off with a bang. It seems that we'll finally see the couple together in public for the first time since they got married.

EXILE has won the grand prize at the Japan Record Awards for 3 consecutive years from 2008-2010, 2nd in history to do so after Ayumi Hamasaki also achieved a similar feat. They are also one of the favorites to win the award this year, and doing so will bring their total tally to 4, the most ever by an artist. Will we be able to see a touching scene where the couple will share their happiness onstage?

Ueto comments: "I am truly honored to be selected once again after 5 years to become the host of the Japan Record Awards". This year, she played the role of Hanzawa Naoki's wife in the drama of the same name which has shattered ratings records all around. Will she once again be the supportive wife who encourages her husband this time to win the award?

They're going with this skit since it looks like they've already decided on letting EXILE win the grand prize this year
And it does look more and more like EXILE will win the grand prize

It's like the award is already in the bag
EXILE won't be going onstage if they won't win
05:35:48.07 ID:jDxz/yhUO
Looks like the award's already decided then www

Avekkuso × GoriOsuka = Grand prize, no doubt

What a farce

I know TBS wants the ratings, but this is going overboard.
AKB's song is the one that has seeped into the general public much more, this will totally feel rigged.

So EXILE wins this year, huh
This is the current state of Japan's music industry
I'd rather see Gouriki winning rather than seeing something as rigged as this
EXILE's more ruthless method of reaching a million compared to AKB48 has been approved of, huh
This is horrible.
Looks like EXILE will win, huh.

Confirmed that it's a horribly rigged award.

I feel sorry for Sashihara since she's worked the hardest this year.

Ayu may have won it 3 straight years but I actually don't know her songs if I just look at the titles.
I think they won't allow the group to surpass Ayu so they'll probably let AKB win.

A farce competition
As expected of TBS
But it's wrong to achieve a similar status with lip-syncing, so of course it'll be EXILE who'll win
And the winner is EXILE
I don't think they'll appoint her as the host if it hasn't been decided to go to EXILE yet.
But well, the award has already become like shi+e for quite some time now.
Looks like the record grand prize just has the same worth now as the Best Jeanist award
The award itself has no value whatsoever

There used to be huge turnarounds before, though.
There was a time when everyone thought that Rumiko Koyanagi was a shoe-in but Naomi Chiaki's "Kassai" suddenly won the grand prize.

I've heard of "KoiTune" and "Ninjari Bang Bang" but not "EXILE PRIDE".
I also haven't heard of anyone singing it on karaoke.
People know the song "KoiTune" much more, but I think that was overpushed too.
And the public is probably much more interested in seeing HIRO retire together with her wife on stage.
Yeah, yeah, it's EXILE's award already.
Got it~

I think they would have definitely won it during "Rising Sun".
AKB won it last year, but I wonder if Hattori-sensei still prefers EXILE.
