Talent Ryo Fukawa, known as one of the best pianists in showbiz shared his thoughts on her latest music video for "Let me let you go" on his radio program Rocketman Show (J-Wave).
"Her finger forms are like those of a beginner."
"This kind of sound will not come out with that kind of playing,"
Pointing out that she was just pretending to play the piano.
"(If you say that you're singing to your own accompaniment) The sound that's supposed to be coming out of you should really be your own."
"I thought with this that Amuro-san isn't an artist, but a performer. An artist will not do that."
"I suppose Amuro-chan also has fans who have been playing the piano all their lives. Those fans are probably feeling sad too."
"(To Avex) Are they looking down on the music industry?"
Some net comments:
"If you just think that it's an act for the video, then just looking like you're playing it is alright."
"I'm disappointed in you Amuro-chan."
"So she's just an idol singer after all."
Ryo Fukawa was also popular for giving his opinion on Fuji TV who were giving importance to Hallyu, and gained the sympathy of many people.
Well said. I think he's correct in this one.
Fukawa's extremely good at playing the piano, right?
So a piano player really can tell right away, huh?
Well, I do believe they're looking down on the industry
The problem here is that they declared that it's her "first time to show off her piano playing".
If they didn't, I would have forgiven it if it was just an act for the video.
True, I seriously wonder if they did the right thing with the piano here.
Did they really have to do it?
Right, Amuro is a "performer", not an "artist"
Namie Amuro probably wants people to think that she's a musician too.
I'm thinking that she'll start singing jazz one of these days.

6/30 J-WAVE ROCKETMAN SHOW tanscript
Fukawa: "I've seen this article about Amuro-chan singing while accompanying herself with the piano for the first time, so I watched the video for that new song. Have you seen it?"
Author: "No, I'm not aware of that."
Fukawa: "That was horrible, playing while singing? People who play the piano could tell. The way she bends her fingers and her hand placements are those of a beginner, and it's obvious that this kind of sound cannot be created with that kind of playing. They're not fooling us with this. How would you feel when you're shown something like that?"
Author: "Well, it's just a music video so they might be using additional sounds that don't come from the source which is the piano."
Fukawa: "No, that's not it. She's totally just acting like she's playing it. Namie Amuro can't play the piano. It means the sound on the CD is a lie. I think this is unforgivable. Amuro-chan is a first-rate artist in Japan, right? Normally, if someone proposes this idea to you, you won't accept it, right? That means that Avex who asked her to do this and publicize it as "playing the piano" is looking down on Japan. HEY AVEX, ARE YOU LOOKING DOWN ON JAPAN? ARE YOU LOOKING DOWN ON JAPAN'S MUSIC INDUSTRY? I think this is totally acceptable to the people who are loyal Namie Amuro fans. But to people like me who are pianists and musicians at heart, something like this is definitely unacceptable. I suppose Amuro-chan also has fans who have been playing the piano all their lives. Those fans are probably feeling sad too. This company is no good.
Yeah, I have one more thing to say... But if I say more than this, people will quote me on it. I won't say it though (laughs), this company is the worst company in Japan's music industry."
I also want lipsyncing eliminated. But I think that can also be said for the CG elements in movies...
Amuro-chan can already sing and dance. I wonder why she has to do something as boring as this.
Saying that they're taking the music industry lightly is too much LOL
Well, it's just natural that they'd only be acting like they're playing in music videos.
Is Fukawa stupid or something?
But the bands in music programs also aren't playing live, so I think it's alright.
What he's saying is correct, but he should at least differentiate this since it's a music video after all.
I saw a clip of this video in some sort of informational program, but that short clip was enough for me to tell that her fingers really looked like that of an amateur. This actually ruins her image, I wonder why they decided on doing this.
A sound argument
This is called "air"-piano, same genre as Golden Bomber
This man must really hate lies
Even if Fukawa doesn't say anything, we all know that Avex is shi+e...
The way they're fooling around is too much.
I think someone of Amuro's level could have at least taken a year's worth of piano lessons before showing it off in public.
Fukawa's a comedian, how tactless of this guy LOL
So he's bashing Amuro and Avex this much...
What a fearsome man.
Avex is taking the consumers lightly.
Yeah, since she's formerly from the Super Monkeys
The problem here is that Amuro's side is declaring that she's playing the piano
They showed it on Fuji this morning and they even showed the making of the video.
I'm just fed up with everyone, the media included.
Depending on how you think of it, this is actually worse than lip-syncing.
At least you're still singing to your own voice.
But all music videos have the music source coming from CDs, right?
This is just natural since they're promoting the CD.
I actually want people to point me to music videos where they're not just playing along to the sound.
I think actors have no choice but to do something similar on dramas, but they shouldn't do it on music videos.
I think Fukawa has the right to express his thoughts.
I'm not one to talk about the fingers and such.
But Amuro's videos and concepts of music videos are just rip-offs from what they do overseas. Doesn't she have an original concept of her own?
I once watched Amuro's live performance with a stage staff, and he saw through her and said "Amuro-chan's lip-syincing".
To me, it only seemed like she was singing live.
After that incident, I just stare at Amuro-chan.
He went against Yoshimoto's ace Takashi Okamura,
bashed Hallyu, expressed his disgust at Yasushi Akimoto,
and has now turned his fangs against Avex and the songstress.
Ryo Fukawa, you've really become stronger.
I'd change my opinion of Amuro if she proves him wrong by playing perfectly LIVE though LOL
TOKIO: "You called us?"
I think TOKIO plays their instruments, but was Otokogumi able to play their instruments with members like that?
I like Ryo Fukawa but I think the music he makes is just a little better than amateur level
But Amuro isn't an artist, but an ex-idol in the first place.
An artist who just plays an instrument while singing won't be making headlines.
Whether we like it or not, Amuro herself has become an authority.
I wonder if there's anyone one near her who can stop her from pushing through with her ideas.
You'd immediately know if someone is just faking the guitar, but the piano can only be seen through by people who have played it.
I've never played the piano so I really can't tell, but can't Amuro do anything about her English?
She may be cool when she sings and dances but everything goes to waste with pronunciation like that.
What about Pocket Biscuits' MV? Is Ucchan, I mean Teruyoshi Uchimura, really the one playing the piano there?
The piano doesn't suit Amuro at all LOL
I got surprised.
Namie Amuro is the number one woman in Japan who doesn't look good on the piano.
She can cosplay all she wants in her music videos, but a piano is a musical tool. She's not even the one who's playing the piano on the CD, she shouldn't be lying here.
Fukawa has changed after people rated him highly as a DJ.
I don't know though if it's a good thing or a bad thing.
But I doubt that there are people who actually think that Amuro plays the piano
Does this mean that Taro Itsumi will return as 5-ji ni Muchuu's host?
She's been trying to act like an artist lately.
If she just sticked to dancing, people would just say that "wow, she can still move in spite of her age!"
but she suddenly goes and plays the piano. That's why her faults will come out.
Way to go, Fukawa!
Fukawa's quite the critic lately.
Akimoto, Amuro, Mt. Fuji.
Her pinky is too round so it's pretty pathetic once I found out that she wasn't the one playing.
But I'm surprised that Kokubun of TOKIO is actually pretty good.
He's also a good arranger.
Just like the Skimaswitch pianist, it's amazing that they can play this much even though they started when they already became adults.
Ryuichi Sakamoto once said, "Avex is that company who goes to NY clubs and buys the unpopular disco music there, right?"
I didn't imagine it would escalate this much.
Fukawa is a fool who picks a fight with the seemingly untouchable ones like Hallyu and Amuro LOL
Uh-oh, Fukawa might lose his projects
I agree with Fukawa, but will he be alright going up against Avex like this?
I'm worried that he'll lose his job.
