"Hey What's Up?" is his first single in 1 year and 5 months. Jin Akanishi wrote the lyrics and composed the song himself, with the themes "summer", "party", and "Tokyo" in mind. the concept of the video is "the whole of Tokyo will turn into a party".
The video is directed by Kenji Maruyama. The director's other works include music videos of AKB48, SKE48, and Nogizaka 48.
